Not sure where to place this.

I can confirm, according to media, it is down to us and the Cats. It is 50/50.
They are slightly favouring Geelong.

Expecting the Collingwood move of TOM for Pick 27. So we have two 2nd rounders., wonder now how this moves BRisbane for next year and with Jack.

Or WC or Freo. Imagine what damage we could do with pick 7. My point from the first place.

The Mitchell trade is by far the most interesting one yet everyone is stuck on Bowes.

Mitchell doesn't fit in our team or plans - but is a really good player - and will make Collingwood significantly better.

Wright swapped sides. He was part of the recruitment team that brought him to Hawthorn. Wrighty always paid "fair price" and tried to engender good will with trading partners. I wonder if he's still doing that?

I would say they want the Grundy deal done first so they can see their full deck of cards to play with, and do the Mitchell thing after that.
I just see him moving for a mid to late second or that pick upgrade that was rumoured, don’t see many other outcomes

Hope your right Tops and its that tight......heard its lock in the Cats , sounds like the bread and butter pudding and two fruits at GMHBA this morning did the trick .

Sadly I think that means Geelong are more than 50%.

That's not how 50/50 works :p
I do think if he is favouring the Cats though, its done. I don't see what we could offer now that we haven't previously haven't to get it over the line if Geelong is preferred to any degree

The draft is a lottery, however as each year goes on clubs are getting better at learning from their own and other clubs mistakes.

Adelaide for example. Their first round selection history is DIRE. McAsey, Jones, McHenry just to name a few. So this season they are trading it for an established player so they don't botch another one.

Carlton is tragic. Took O'Brien and Dow both in the top 10 in 2017. We drafted Dylan Moore and James Worpel after our first selection came at pick 45.

We've faired quite well in recent times. Ward, Day, DGB, Maginness, Macdonald and Butler have all been top 30 selections and look likely best 22 players collectively within the next 12-24 months.

Looking at the recent top 15 picks drafting from between 2015 to 2019 (75 players) - it seems like there has been quite a lot of successful picks.

I chose 15 as if we were able to secure pick 7 from GCS's we'd be looking at players generally rated between that 5 to 15 mark.

While we're at it....

Mercurial means inconsistent and wildly varying. Not exciting, not elusive, not x-factor.

Steve Motlop was mercurial.
Cyril Rioli was not.

Charlie Cameron is not mercurial.
Joe Daniher is mercurial.

Eddie Betts was at times but his best seasons were anything but mercurial.

Pressure forward aren't mercurial if they keep up the defensive pressure just because they have some 4 goal games and others quiet.

Tall forwards are mercurial if they only ever kick bags of 5 or have no impact.

Stop calling exciting small forwards "mercurial” you idiots. It's an insult, not a compliment.

The confusion is that mercurial has 2 meanings:

"Mercurial describes someone whose mood or behavior is changeable and unpredictable, or someone who is clever, lively, and quick."

Whilst it's a nice word, by definition it's use almost invariably imposes a degree of ambiguity onto the inferred meaning.

A lot of commentators that use it probably also talk of "laconic kicking styles".

We're not getting him, the only reason our names been bandied about (by his management) as a potential suitor is to drive his value up and promote a bit of FOMO.
Drive up his value eh? Suppose it couldn't get much lower.

The conspiracy theories are so lame, if he knew he wanted Geelong they would have announced it already.

How about we just wait for an announcement before assuming anything?
Big time. If he chooses Geelong they’ll feel vindicated too, which will be even more annoying.

Keep this on the DL, but I've heard from a very reliable source that a major change is coming up in the next few days.

Apparently, we're well in talks to acquire a Lavazza coffee pod machine from the Harvey Norman on Lonsdale street.
Would open up the admin team to purchasing the Lavazza pods when they are on sale and not relying on Nescafe. Introduces a few new flavors that don't taste any different as well.

Just preliminary stuff, apparently Richmond and West Coast is also keen. Geelong has also been linked, aparently the delivery guy really loves the lifestyle.

You’ve been had mate. Harvey Norman only uses DeLonghi, which they’ve perpetually flagged as “untouchable”

When you think about the amount of resources that go into recruitment at the draft the failure rate is huge.
Spot on.

Hence I keep urging people not to get fixated with pick 6 or 7 or whatever and some supposed guaranteed success these are expected to generate.

So much time / effort / resources go into talent identification, yet the results are more often than not sub-standard.

Focus on character of people, club culture and willingness to extract everything possible out of yourself.

That’s Dylan Moore over Jaidyn Stephenson, or Jai Newcombe over Oliver Henry, etc.

Brought this up with my guy, slight confusion on the wording.

Gerry Harvey himself is the one selling the Lavazza, he's flying in tomorrow night. I'm told this was all arranged during Lindsay Fox's birthday yacht orgy dinner party. Kennet is very keen on this one, but Gerry is apparently a very big Gryan Miers fan so it could go either way.
