A couple of interesting posts

Thanks for posting that - nice little tidbits

There are so many people involved, how can clubs keep their cards close to their chests?

A lot of info is obviously going to get out.
In the end, it's one or two guys making the final call. You can be maybe 90% sure of what another club will do, but rarely 100%.
They can run some counter-intelligence too, by making some suggestions to other clubs.

I think our list is pretty well covered across the board but there are 2 positions I’d like to fill to round it out.
An explosive, dynamic mid sized forward/mid eg : Martin, De Goey, Dangerfield, Stringer, Petracca, Fyfe, Rayner, Greene.
Martin is our incumbent but have my doubts re him, Cuningham or Honey being that player consistently when it counts.
The other position to consider is serious midfield run to support Walsh.
For position A, I’m looking at Humphrey should he make it to our pick which may be some chance.
Hollands is the obvious candidate at our selection for position B.
Looking forward to the draft and i think Austin will be trying to be proactive, won’t be at all surprised to see our future picks on the table to add extra picks this year …

Agree with you, a quality midfielder always an astute selection and good decision, a damaging defensive and creative mid forward too is must in a team challenging for possible top 4 position,.
I’m quite confident that Austin & team will secure some quality youngsters with potential.
Go Blues

I find this to be a particularly fascinating draft, in terms of all the machinations of orders, pick swaps etc.
Do you believe our F1st may be on the table with Gold Coast or Essendon with F2nd coming back in bearing mind both of those teams are likely to be bottom 6-8, if we have identified 1-2 players we would really like to obtain.
We may then look to find a way to trade back into 1st round in 12 months time.

Good insights.

Reading the tea leaves a bit - sounds like our preference is to grab Busslinger, if he’s not available we take Hollands.

Gold Coast don't have a pick, so won't be them. Do you mean Giants?
I think *'s 2nd will only be on the table if a bid comes for Davey, and then a F2 + 3rd would get the deal done, although could be trumped by another team with a presumably higher F2.

As for our F1 being on the table, not sure. We've been clear that we want another pick ahead of our 2nd, so I guess it depends on how high we're aiming, and also what teams are prepared to trade out for 2023 picks, and then how much they're prepared to give back (F2 or F3).
Who would be prepared to trade out a 1st? Giants, maybe Swans, maybe Pies? Can't see anyone else. And then early 2nds, Giants again, * only if forced by a bid, perhaps Dogs, maybe Eagles or Pies with their later picks.

The problem with offering F1 for those picks is (aside from probably being overs) is we're suddenly going into next years draft without a 1st and having only used a single 1st over the previous 3 years. Would be a big call for us. If we were offering a trade to the Giants, I think we would much prefer #18 rather than #19, even if it's for the same player.

l was meaning swapping our 1st pick 10 for the Suns 1st pick 5 with our F1st potentially being a part of that with a pick or picks coming back to us.

l feel if we have identified 1-2 players we really like, we are most likely going to have to trade up.

Alternatively if this fails, trading our 1st with Sydney or Gws may be the 2nd option with two later 1st rounders.

Oh, I'd say unlikely given Sheezel will be off the board.
It sounds like there are lots of clubs that want to move up, not sure I want us to be outbidding them, especially when it seems we're after an extra pick.

Going to be interesting yes originally Sheezel was part of that discussion but maybe there are 1-2 others that they feel are worth trading up to obtain them.

Reckon top 10 will be Cadman, Aschcroft, Sheezel, Wardlaw, Phillipou, Tsatas, Ginbey, Humphrey, Clark, Mackenzie in some of form or other, it’s pretty well the consensus if based on best available.
Busslinger and Hollands too will be pressing and maybe selected earlier pending certain team’s requirement.
pretty exciting and should we hold on to our pick 10, Austin will be able to snare a quality youngster.
