If the midfield isn’t as competitive as it should be, winning or being competitive becomes a challenge. We must continue to show improvement from last year.

If we don’t show improvement and members lose start to lose faith and stop turning up, crowd numbers are in decline and the style of play suffers based on an uncompetitive midfield, the board will react much quicker than the sycophants want.

Why prolong the inevitable and rob a young potential Captain of the experience of on-field leadership?

Captains still play a role in the era of participation award. Just ask Cotchin or Selwood and those that play under them.

I'd put this down to him just being a smarter operator than most.

'On field tick' is a big call.

He was pretty average this year.
