AFL just announced an in-principle agreement for a 19th Tasmanian team.

Feel like every currently listed Tasmanian players trade value just went up!

Chayce Jones, please have a breakout year!!!
His value just went up that's for sure.. maybe we can get some compo for him... even if it's a 2nd or 3rd round

2027 intro .....another 4 years for Jones ....we'll be up & about, not sure too many will want to go to a cellar dweller after the GC & GWS experience

Will Tasmania lure Jones with big $$$$
He'll be lucky to be on an AFL list by then.

Most clubs would have delisted him by now.

He's the 426th ranked player in the AFL out of about 800. That's disappointing for a top 10 pick (although better than Dylan Stephens at 493).

But every club has lesser ranked players on their list, with less scope for improvement, that they have no intention of delisting.

Stephens is a year younger and actually showed something this year.

And yes very disappointing for a top 10 pick.

Where is McAsey?

671.

While that seems high, there are only 690 players who have a score yet (ie plenty yet to debut).

Also, Lachie O'brien (485) and Paddy Dow (524) are top 10 picks a year older than Chayce. Also funny because they are both from Carlton.

the curious case of chayce jones... the thing is hes quality you can see that. theres just not enough quantity-not just disposals-everything

its not fitness, its not bravery, there's something else and they need to get to the bottom of it.

my gut feeling is hes a good boy, follows instructions very literally, and this doesnt allow him to ever break that mould and play on instinct or with any flair. has pace, can kick (mostly), can hit and tackle. its a mindset

Both he and Fog seemed to lack the confidence to play their natural games in recent years. Fog seems to have fixed it, hoping Chayce does too.

I wish he'd lead by example with his haircut.

He looks like Will Ferrell in A Night at the Roxbury.

...and here he is when he was famous on TV

I can do all of that, I’m just not good enough, like him.
People need to start realizing that, sometimes players just don’t translate to AFL.

He reminds me a bit of Shaun Atley

Drafted early, they hoped he'd be a dynamic line breaking midfielder

Instead they found he could only play a very limited role, had to be behind the football. Existed in the game and contributed but never reached any great heights.

Chayce is sadly lacking something for elite football which can’t be trained into you which is spacial/footy awareness imo.
Totally agree ....I still believe Chayce can have a very good AFL career though ......just not elite

Spot on. Would love to see a list of most tackled player per possession they get. Chayce would be leading the way I reckon. Improving but first couple of years seemed to get smashed every time he touched the footy. Going back has helped that a bit but just doesn’t have the natural awareness of a midfielder or a forward. Fingers crossed he can make it as a back man

Don't agree with this. He showed enough of it early days but you could see that it was coached out in favour of maintaining structures in support of the premier mids.
