Kochie doesn't want any competition.

Long live Ken!
Yep.

Thats exactly how I viewed it.

I presume our neighbours felt the same way too? I havent ventured over to have a look on their board.

Club great and only premiership captain can’t get on the board because their Sunrise wacky breakfast presenter owner wants to follow governance.

Which club is the plastic franchise again?
Can we vote him onto our board instead for the lulz?

Kochie prefers the cash cow over Tredders...

Yeah he knows what a threat to him Tredrea would be on the board. The members position vote is later in the year, Koch is hoping they’re tracking for a flag by then to prove 10 years of him and Hinkley was a good idea and nullify opposing forces in the club

I’m no fan of Tredrea but what a disgraceful thing to say about him - “learn about the club”

I like what Kochie did with Tredrea. Put your name up for election if you want a role.

Really it's just Tredrea trying to stay relevant after he lost all his media roles.

Yeah I think he’s doing more than that, has a desire for change at the club but that’s not in a direction that Koch likes

Koch says he doesn’t want to appoint one legend over another, but apparently he’s got the power to appoint board members so that he can get the right skill set. Clearly not the skills that Tredrea would bring

their constitution is a find and replace of ours. They run their version of appointing only like minded idiots, just like we do.

It’s hilarious Kochie trying to defend this by saying it’s because of governance that he decided Tredrea couldn’t be on the board

The board can appoint new directors (or more specifically can recommend to the AFL to appoint them, as only they have the power to do it).

There’s clearly a gap on their board of football knowledge

All boards with good governance will have a nominations committee. If you want to go on the board, speak to the nominations committee.

Now if it was someone like me, I’d probably get a polite email saying I don’t have the requisite skills or profile for it, so do one.

But Tredders clearly has both so should have gone through the process.

But instead Koch has decided that former players have to be elected by the members.

And we know better than anyone how inappropriate this is. Any regular punter wanting to put their hand up is on a hiding to nothing if going up against a former player.

Actually that’s wrong. That’s how it applies at our club. In our constitution while the AFL have to give the final tick, it must be in consultation with our board and nominations committee.

Under Ports constitution, the AFL can appoint whomever they see fit with no consultation with the club.

The correct approach by Koch therefore should have been to tell Warren to contact the AFL because Kochie has no formal say in this at all.

I'm confused, you are quoting your own post & telling yourself you are wrong.

Did you forget to change username....

No. I wrote it then realised I was wrong. I just have the one username. Kinda let your secret out the bag now.
Lol, everyone knows I have only 1 username as one of the earlier posters on this board... but there have been a few posters have been similarly caught out.

Honestly didn't think you had an alias, but was funny.

Absolutely this. This is one ballooned ego that got popped. The how-dare-you-I'm-Warren-Tredrae line of behaviour didn't cut it through Covid much to his astonishment, and here we are.

Maybe Koch has seen the damage Roo has done and didn’t want the same mistake?
Kochie did damage with his China crusade...

Can't label all ex-players the same.

Would have thought it would be healthy to have board members who have strong views... rather than a group of yes people who agree all the time with the Chairman.

How exactly is it a good thing that a club legend and premiership captain doesn’t have the same opportunity to be on the board as a lawyer or tennis coach?
