Since we're back on the media coverage of the Swans, I fully agree that the club's media team is poor, but that issue is even more problematic when you consider how badly we are covered by other media outlets.

I was reading a couple of match reports the other day from intra-club hitouts of the Lions & the Suns.
Relatively comprehensive overview written by AFL media's Qld reporter Michael 'Fish' Whiting.
AFL media's reporter for GWS & ourselves..................?

Neil Cordy has retired up to Qld (having left the Daily Telegraph in 2018) and writes an occasional piece, primarily for CodeSports.
Neil was replaced at the Telegraph by..................?

Andrew Wu seems to be the main SMH/Age AFL reporter for the NSW teams.
Currently over in India covering the cricket.

So poor coverage by the Swans media team exacerbated by virtually no cover from other media outlets, other than an occasional radio interview emanating from Melbourne radio.

What is even more frustating is that the club must be aware how bad 'external' media coverage is, but totally fails the members/supporters with its own media team.

You took the words right out of my mouth HB (thankfully not while you were kissing me.)

And then when they do show content of the players, it's almost always one or a few of Buddy/Heeney/Papley/Warner/Gulden, who are the only Swans players the rest of the footy media cares about anyway.

Never known a media team to do such a constant disservice to so many of its own players as ours does.

Back to footy (you get whiplash around here), kinda bummed that the game this week is only 4 x 25 minutes, unlike last year where there was about 2 extra quarters piled on. If the coaches go with our best team possible (which I imagine they will, given they'll want to fine-tune for round 1 with only two practice matches), then it won't give much opportunity to the young fellas underneath to show much.

I suppose a few might get a quarter and a bit if we rest any of the best 22 players, plus I guess a number of those best 22 players won't even be participating (Blakey, Clarke, Reid, Buddy, McLean)

I tried 🤷‍♂️

Thanks Hairy biker for the info.. I was not aware of that, and it explains alot.. Also thanks Z R&W for trying to fix it.

Fair enough to complain about the lack of media coverage, but one post is enough.. any more than one and you start sounding like a three year old.. Whinging!
Whinging is very hard to read

The vfl are playing curtain raisers both weeks, unfortunately we won't see them mixing it with the seniors but if your local get to see both.

Where did you get that info? The original post on the Swans website said there would be curtain raisers but can't find anything official since.
I will be coming up for the game on Friday and would hate to miss anything if they started earlier than 12 as advertised.

Apologies the first one is a curtain closer was a article by the brilliant vfl commentator and huge swans man Brendan Rhodes on afl.com look forward to reading your insights from being there in person. Screenshot_20230221-061046_AFL.jpg Screenshot_20230221-061122_AFL.jpg

Funnily enough, when I went down to last year to watch a pre-season intraclub hit-out, the man himself Horse, what with his lack of knee ligaments had the same set up. Comfy chair, sat on the boundary while all other coaches and staff and players did it tough running around in the summer sun. He was just missing a nice cold can of beer in the arm rest of his chair. You might be able to join him on Friday.

Got my tickets to Swans vs Melb in R3. Finally starting to feel really close to the season

How does it work with ticketek?

I bought 3 tickets to the Round 1 game at Metricon and they say the tickets themselves aren't available until closer to the date of the game.

It's been a long while since I bought a ticket to an individual game. Either using my MCC membership or Swans membership usually.

Each venue opens up ticket sales at different times, it's weird. I have no idea when Metricon is up for sale, sorry

Thanks. But they are on sale and I bought the tickets.

But when they send them to you, they say you need to wait until closer to the event date for the actual ticket.

Which is weird.
Oh sorry, I misunderstood. It just means you'll get a text or an e-mail a week or two from the game
