I don’t understand, do the laws of the game now require the bails to light up for a run out to count? Because surely you can give that out without that.
I'm with you here.
Since when is the flashing bail a requirement? I thought it was just an entertainment for the crowd thing.

That is the close to the worst decision i've ever seen in cricket. With a faulty bail like that the only thing he could have done (and he'd have had no way of knowing the bail was faulty) would have been to grab the bail with ball in hand as that overrides things like this. (it's also used for runouts where the stumps have already been broken)
