Sometimes I think of footy like tennis.

Break points are only good if you convert them.

Beating teams we expect to lose to (Freo, Dogs) is exciting! But if we then drop games we expect to win (Bombers, Suns) we aren’t any better off than we thought we would be.

We converted one of our break points when beating the Bombers, and wasn’t it sweet.

Tonight, despite the injuries, we must beat the Suns. At their best they WILL challenge us, though their bottom 6 players are a concern for them. At Marvel, we SHOULD convert this break point and go 4-0.

With games against the Pies and Blues to follow, it is essential we win tonight. It gives us a couple of nice looks. A barnstorming Pies side will be coming off a loss and will be missing Howe, Cox, Cameron and possibly Crisp. And we get them on neutral territory. A Blues team which hasn’t dropped a game through 4 but has looked shaky at different stages of all of them. If we pinch one of those wins and go 5-1 to start the season despite the injuries, it’d be incredible.

But it all starts tonight.

So much talk about Rowell and Miller - don’t sleep on Anderson. Very very good player.

Also, Brad Crouch is going a bit under the radar this season. He’s finding the footy as he often does, but his spread is better, his defensive accountability is better. And he’s calm and patient with the ball at the moment, absorbing heat and handballing out to players in space.

His composure and contest work has been bloody awesome. Don’t be surprised if he’s a beat and fairest bolter.

Traditionally these are the games we have coughed up, games where we are expected to win and dont turn up. Eventually the kids in our forward line are going to have off games, but GCS defence is not the strongest. They are concerned about our tall forwards as they have brought Mac Andrew in. Cordy will take Collins and hopefully Owens and Caminiti can have an impact, but they will need to work away from Witts when he drops back.

Im worried about Marshall against Witts, as in the past Witts has dominated Rowan. If he gives their mids first use we might be in trouble. Hopefully Lenny has watched vision of Marshall's past games against Witts and has our mids keyed up to work off him. Rowan will need to work to his strengths and run Witts around and get dangerous around the ground. But can we please NOT kick to spots where Witts is stationed filling holes.

If RTB new game style is sustainable and we can bring the same effort every week, we should be competitive?

Have not been confident going into games since 2009.

Gold Coast have a strong team and we have struggled against them over the last couple of years.

Rowell, Witts, Anderson etc can cause us some strife.

Really enjoying wathing Caminiti playing with freedom and having a crack, hoping we can continue with the pressure and win the midfield battle.
How about flipping the coin & look at our players that can cause GC problems..I also doubt Caminiti, Phillipou & Owens will only kick 2 goals between them again!

Good observation. Same can be said for most, if not all of his teammates too.

One of the defining featutes of our play under ratts was everyone treating the ball like a hot potato.
Across the park we now look far more calm and willing to absorb tackles and hits without coughing the ball up and making it someone elses problem

Not sure how he affords stone bench tops when his wife gets the kitchen renovated every 5 years.
It's all the rArE sPeCieS that he's finding in his backyard. It's funding his high society lifestyle.
