Nisbett is untouchable - no one dares speak out at the club against him. How do you get rid of a guy who’s the puppet master with no end in sight to his tenure ( says he’ll stay until they come good again- then say why would he leave!)
The pressure will keep building with each hammering and to divert attention from himself he’ll sack Simmo ( or forced to resign)
Then there will be a new coach with a fresh start to sell to sponsors and supporters. Pressure off him again!
Anyway, Simmo should just get another gig at another club at the end of the year with a list that’s got more upside and try prolonging his career.

As much as a knob as Cornes is he’s got the guys at Nine to cut this segment perfectly.

Doesn’t reflect well on Trev or Simmo given our current plight. Come across as very, very arrogant and in denial.

That missed tackle stat is something that again points to a total lack of effort… it doesn’t matter how old you are you can tackle, chase or block….

When’s the last time we actually showed some aggression , started a fight or something.. Sicily was gobbing off to all and sundry the other day.. knock him over, push back.. just become passive puppy dogs

Part of the broken tackles is fitness. If you're not match fit and you fatigue earlier than the opponent well you don't stick the tackle. Saw a lot of hands on hips on Sunday. The lack of availability feeds into the lack of match fitness feeds into a lack of ability to hold a tackle and on and on it goes.

So the expectation was we were going to make the 8 at the start of the year from the club…

To be that delusional should see all of them in that boys club out the door….

But who shows the door to the boys in charge of the boys club?

The Eagles have been hitting the draft the last two seasons, so I would suggest they knew where we were at. They just don't broadcast it to everyone and anyone. The media calling it arrogance because they arrogantly expect to be told everything by clubs and coaches who actually don't give a shit about them and only speak because they contractually have to.

Did we not gain ourselves an extra first rounder in last years draft and an extra second rounder in the next one?

I wish someone would call these nuffies out on their rubbish. The problem is they are all as dumb as each other.

An extra second and third (both from Port) in this year's draft. Current haul is 1, 19, 34, 37, 52 and 55. We should definitely be looking to use those later picks, either individually or packaged, to get some ready-made players in that are a step up from some of the players we have now. But the idea that the club didn't recognise the need for new talent simply doesn't hold up.

Not relevant apparently.

Spot on. On "Ask Simmo" Simpson said that he doesn't read any media at all because he doesn't want to be distracted by the bullshit. He said he assumes what they're likely to say based on events of the weekend, but when it really blows up then the club media team need to brief him on what's happening.

For those who can't be bothered watching.
  • Positives this year are watching the development of young players, seeing some progress.
  • Early in the year we were showing good form, once we get a healthy list on the park we will be able to assess where we're at (likely over the next few weeks - particularly post-bye). Confident there'll be better results post-bye
  • Many of the senior players went through this in 2010 - Shuey remembers losing to Geelong at Kardinya Park. Learnt things, feels he was armed with resilience. Going to be beneficial for Ginbey, Chesser, Hough.
  • Says that in 2010 we had a healthy list. Whereas now our injuries are forcing us to field players on-field who aren't ready for the level of exposure. Attributes this to the size of the loss.
  • Says leadership internally (players) are reacting and mentoring in the same way that Lecras, Glass etc. were in 2010.
  • Calls to change captain don't impact him - club doesn't pay any attention to media.
  • Reiterates that playing group is fully confident and driven to turn this around. Completely behind Simmo in this journey.
  • Still believes teams can turn things around quickly - cites Collingwood.
  • Talks about veterans needing to retire - says it's a yearly conversation. More pressure to consider it as we draft new talent.
  • Hasn't given thought to his status next year. Wants to get body right and deliver another 10-11 games this season before thinking about future.
  • Optimistic about ability to get body right. Says he is about 2 weeks off. Pushing for Collingwood - likely Adelaide game.
  • Responds to a question about Allen - says Oscar's been dealing with a sore knee. Can't comment on how he's feeling this week.
  • Very little structural flexibility atm - many players being played out of position. Major focus is effort.
  • Ask fans to stick with us. Best fanbase in AFL. There will be good times soon. Can't wait to give them something to cheer about.
  • Doesn't point fingers to medical department for injury woes. Cites JJ's contact injury as an example. Notes that we do need to get soft tissue injuries right.
  • Has never seen a more driven and committed group - including the medical team. Working overtime to propose solutions, including individual mentoring/assistance.
  • Journo asks if medical team changed preseason program - Shuey confirms, says the list was the healthiest and fittest it had been in years at the start of the season. Says it's very difficult to play with things beyond getting players up for each week with the current availability.

Of course he remembers losing at Kardinia Park.
Pick a match, any match.
We haven't won there during his entire career.

In fact the only notable thing about the 2010 loss is the fact that at 44 points, it's the closest we've been to Geelong at Geelong during Shueys time with the team.

At a time when one triple-premiership coach quits mid season and a four-time coach takes a break the media are all piling on Simmo ... creating exactly the pressure Clarko and Dimma found intolerable. And if as a result of this Simmo ... um ... loses it ... not our fault!
Can't say I'm surprised by the mostly ignorant Vic media who don't bother to learn much about matters outside Victoria - after all who cares? And besides they hate those who successfully challenge their 'VFL'. Be a perennial loser like Cockburn and we'll tolerate you.
But very sadly the WA media is involved in this pile on. They are fully aware of what is, I'd say, an unprecedented injury crisis (show me a worse one). You don't need to be Einstein to know that the world's best coach ain't gonna get wins in the AFL from what is effectively a WAFL side. Yes there may be lots of issues about 'why' - but on game day there's absolutely SFA Simmo can do.
