I think the delusional attitude permeates the whole club. They still think everything will be allright once all the chronically injured over 30's come back and are suddenly and magically no longer chronically injured and recapture their 2018 form.

Even Simpson's answers in the post match pressers after we get belted allude to this thinking. The journos ask him "Where do you go from here and what do you do next?" and his answer is always some variation of "Hopefully get another couple of older players back for next week". That is the wrong answer. The right answer is we are going to have a long week going through the tape, pointing out the mistakes made by the younger players, working with them on how to do better in those situations, maybe getting them to do drills on it and hopefully they perform better in that situation the next game. And if we can keep doing that every week and getting out young players to get better game by game, perform the fundamentals better and make fewer mistakes then that will compound into better performance for us over time".
It's appears you don't even watch Simmo's pressers, or haven't since '21.

His main point in the one after the Adelaide game was that WCE will transition from being the oldest to the youngest club in the next year or 2 as part of the rebuild.

He's not going to state what they do every week as part of a players' development like it's some 'revolutionary' thing.

Having to use decent picks on Livingstone and Collard would blow hard but you’re better off getting your man than running the gauntlet and missing out altogether. I dont think either will last to 40.

We should just rank Livingstone and Collard on our draft board as if they weren’t NGA prospects.

Then if they’re our highest ranked player on the board when it’s our pick take them.

If there’s someone better though, take the better player even if that means we might miss them if a subsequent bid comes.

Should they last past 40, happy days and we match

Ahh nah we didn’t Sydney wanted him and we were happy to let him go because he was always getting into trouble off the field.

So you’re telling me if Eagles had the chance to get JHF you would sign Graham instead? STFU!

If he didn’t want to leave WC Rioli wouldn’t have even spoke to us

Perhaps you should STFU and remember where you are.

I really rated Curtins game, I think he got the better of the best forward in the pool and used the ball really well coming out of defence.
Agree and he had additional adversity to fight with the lack of much assistance from his fellow back men and the complete dominance that ensured the Allied midfield worked the ball forward with such precision.

O'Sullivan I have a big question marks on, as I haven't seen him really defend yet. Great coming out of D50, but only saw him take one intercept mark and still yet to get a fist in. I'd be hesitant to use pick 19 on him, as we need a genuine KPD that can beat a key forward, intercept or kill a marking contest. Need to see more of this from him to be convinced.

Valid points that you raise, however he can only beat who he is playing against and in the two games thus far against SA & WA he hasn't had any one of note to beat. Looking forward to the Allies V Vic Metro, love to see him defend Croft.

Speaking KPD I am a fan of Ollie Murphy bonus is he plays both ends.

Edwards didn't have a great game for mine, Ethan Reid beat him.

Was a very good match up to watch and agree Reid got the better in the ruck but I though around the ground Edwards nudged him.

Torrent was very good in the first half.

Whilst I liked his game and clean hands his foot skills were disappointing.

Sanchez was ok, like to see a bit more of him as he is a smart footballer.

Footy IQ through the roof ............. he is very injury prone ( has been for three seasons now ) I think he will be a real slider...... with a late pick he is low risk high reward.

The Allies side has so many quality players, while it pisses me off the concessions that the Northern States are handed, its bigger picture pleasing to see so many quality kids coming through their programs, long term thats a win for AFL footy in general.

They need to let all clubs match academy kids within the top 40, or none at all. No excuses.
Brisbane and Sydney in particular don't need a leg up. Even if you don't call it that.
Don't give a s**t about them how much they contributed in developing them or promising the kids they'll recruit them. If the second reason is significant enough, what about all the ones that aren't good enough to be matched or recruited?
The rules need to be the same for recruitment across all clubs, or remove matching altogether.
I don't buy into the concept that it's one less player they recruit from the other states, because they don't have prospects every year and still recruit plenty of other players from outside their state.
Surely the national competition is now mature enough for the AFL to take full fiscal and managerial responsibility for growing the game in NSW and Queensland? Keep the academies, just scrap the club affiliations.

Collard unless he blows up the champs will last past 40.

I was hoping that with Livingstone being sore and not making the first champs game he would be a bit out of sight and out of mind and not be taken before 40 as there was talk not only that he might not make the champs but might be needing a 4-5 week break from footy. If he keeps having games like today that won't happen. Do note however he was playing on an absolute nobody and with peel's best players not playing this week after the champs game this game could well be an outlier.

If we can land Livingstone he is exactly what we need, the dockers may not be willing to give up their early second round pick for him as they are mildly delusional and seem to think Treacy can be a star. Livingstone's greatest attributes are his aggression at the ball and the man. He likes it rough and is a real pack breaker. He's not a superstar athletically but he's good enough particularly as a FF with Oscar Allen playing CHF (TBH it's his best position and where I see him moving to particularly once Darling is done)

I have talked up Livingstone a lot, mainly because being outside of the AFL system now and living down south I'm not getting to anywhere nearly as many games and mostly am only making it up to Mandurah for Peel games or to Lathlain for Perth games whilst touching base with a few people at the club. Livingstone will potentially slide as he doesn't have 1 of those genuine potential superstar qualities.

Lastly from what I've heard we are out of the running for Sam Taylor and he will likely sign on with GWS but the club is putting very serious offers and work into both English and Naughton through FA.

For this reason I don't think we'll be drafting a lot of talls in the next couple of years if they genuinely think they can pull it off.

Duane Massey is the head of recruiting however the structure of the recruiting department has changed significantly. ROB and one other are heavily involved in the eastern states and the head of WA recruiting role I was talked to about has been filled. I don't have a name for people yet.

I expect a big shake up off field this year with Gavin Bell almost certain to go, development coaches in particular to be changed and the club is looking to spend a large amount of money replacing Warren Kofoed, even if it means going over the soft cap limit for a year to fill that role. 1-2 Assistant coaches may change if Simpson stays otherwise expect a clean slate if with everyone's job on the line if he goes.

Its worth noting that many of the Allies grew up/live south of Perth. The Riverina as an example is almost North Vic as much as South NSW - it has always been a strong AFL and sport in gerenral nursury. To be pedantic Sudney is south of Perth. I just get the feeling that WC have been lazy and not searched out tallent. As another example we don't seem to look at the Irish as some clubs do.

Monocle I don't think Sanchez gets picked up in the main draft personally. Between his size, constant injury history and average foot skills he may slide out to the rookie draft or not be picked up. Whilst fit this year he is putting in good numbers for EF.

I think a lot will come down to how he finishes the year and if he stays injury free but I think he's a 40+ pick.

Miguel Sanchez You going to just cop this laying down?

Simpson’s not saying once we get the older players back, all will be sweet. He’s saying the 100-point hidings will stop, the younger players will get support and be able to develop how they should, rather than be carrying the load. Pretty sure he knows exactly where we are but the injuries are affecting how we would usually introduce young players. But that doesn’t mean we haven’t invested in a lot of youth in the past two years or that the rebuild isn’t on in earnest.
