Same plan we had for Serong. Win the clearances with bigger bodies around the ball and make him chase on the outside.
port also has big bodied mids though.

Going to be a huge test for our boys.

Hopefully our mids can get on top. That will be a very interesting battle.

Had a quick squiz at gc v pa and they were hanging in there Half way through the 3rd with an impotent forward line. Port had the door left wide open after that and ran away with it. Was half expecting them to be wearing capes and underpants over leggings but a hard tackling side with multiple options to goal will make them look second rate, also their 13 wins have come against sides in various states of disrepair at the time. Lucks a fortune sometimes. Go Blues.

I wouldn't worry about who the last few Oppo were as hawks came out in the 3rd qaurter and posted one of the highest pressure ratings all year -- we didn't flinch stumbled a little then turned the heat back up was very telling Voss bought it up in his presser -- Fremantle pressure was good we just put on more ..
with who available for port we match up very well can see cotters playing off the half fwd with Houston if he move to wing doc and acres are very defensive minded ..
by the look of last week Walsh getting ready for his rozee butters show down --
Put the four points in the bank let's move onto eagles

I think it's a real test as far as how we go when there is pressure and some expectation again. Have a feeling we'll do well.
Hopeful at least.
But not crazily so.

All 13 wins....? Don't necessarily agree but I do agree that they're very gettable. Their wins vs decent teams are basically all very tight. Getting their percentage boosters solely again WC north and hawthorn pretty much.

Certainly doesn't scream invincible but the pies rode a similar trend line last season and were too much for us.

I posted what I think is likely (Hewett).

Though personally I'd prefer a few others trialled before him.
in tdk kennedy mcgovern
out young hewett marchbank

most likely, though Id rather Dow, Binns, Hollands before Hewett
……………………………………………………………..

It was more the fact you had Kennedy and Gov coming in (Already in)
And Marchbank out (Already Out)

I thought you were taking the piss my friend … All good 👍😂

I may have been a bit cheeky with the 13 wins pony whisperer, just glad there is no R Gray to give us conniptions.

Sucks about Kennedy. Playing his best footy.

No to Hewett, had half a game against a bottom side with no steam and had no impact. 5 disposals. No way. As I keep saying, our new game plan means slow means no.

Backline is tough, we may need a tall defender. IMO Gov gets up but plays sore and that is OK.

Kemp Weitering Newman
Saad McGovern Boyd
Acres Cripps Cottrell
Cuningham Silvagni Owies
McKay Curnow Martin
DeKoning Walsh Cerra
Cincotta Docherty Dow Fogarty
Cowan

Others in contention: Hewett C Durdin Motlop Hollands Binns Young

It's a good side that's playing well and unproven, playing a very good proven side.

Prove it Blues.

Thing is Port have Wines and JHF who are big bodies to do a lot of the grunt work and match it with our mids.

Freo literally had no mid who could stand up physically to ours and we just bullied them all.

Id like to see Dow if he is available

Bombers in an elimination final

Pressure to keep that losing finals streak going…

We’re going to miss MK

Agree but I think we'll miss Gov more if he misses.

Kennedy was great and returned to 2022 form, but I'll back Hewett to at least produce close to his output and can play the exact same role (albeit his overhead marking and kicking aren't as good).

Gov is the one we don't really have a replacement for. As others have mentioned, I'd have TDK in the ruck and move Young back onto Marshall. But Young doesn't provide the kicking skills or run Gov does...we saw on the weekend Gov takes kick outs (Young doesn't), can go for aggressive kicks and even provided some run and dash out of defence. Young won't provide any of that, although defensively he's probably a better match up for Marshall.

Club website seems to disagree have put up marchbank intercepting highlights .. usually mean someone out someone in

Ah wasn't aware Marchy might be available and in form. Although same applies to me in that Marchy does not provide the kicking skills and rebound run that Gov does. Marchy has always been an iffy kick.

Young is a good intercept mark and matches up well against Marshall...if TDK is fit enough, I'd prefer him in defence over Marchy. Gives us flexibility and cover too with our second ruck whereas Marchy is a third tall defender only.
