I work f/t and with young kids am pretty busy so don't have a lot of time to post, hence why I'm only catching up on the last two days posts in my lunch hour.
Life can be busy, I get that

I use the likes and emojis in place of written responses as I'm pretty sure that's what they are there for.
I must have missed those likes 😉

You also must have missed the mod notice on the use of repetitive emojis.

I find it amusing that you would call out someone as dismissive or trolling given your reaction to most opinions you don't agree with and continuous negative posting on anything Dow related.
We can either agree or disagree to content and I don't see my opinions on Dow as negative, just realistic

Dow has strengths along with weaknesses, which I have shared numerous times

Your dismissal of opinion contrary to yours could also be viewed as trolling, although given your history I suspect it's just as likely you enjoy the argument.
Perhaps stick to the subject matter, as this is not debating content

FYI - I disagree with the your comparison of Dow with players who were given long stints in the team and remained through long periods of mediocre or poor form. It's a poor comparison - Dow has been given 2 full games in two years despite great form in the 2s and has significantly improving the defensive aspects of his game.
Dow has accumulated high numbers at, VFL level not AFL level, but his defensive flaws are still present. So not sure why you are in disagreement or think it's funny, given its factual

I find it amusing that defensive intent gets bandied around regularly without any acknowledgement of the improvement Dow has made or acknowledging that all players have strengths and weaknesses.
I have touched on both. Dow has improved in many areas, but I still feel he is well behind in defensive acts.

Even the VFL commentator in his last VFL game mentioned his defensive flaws

So it is clearly valid

I also find it amusing that you suggest VFL form doesn't equate to AFL form - of course it doesn't but it makes it pretty difficult to be promoted if VFL form isn't a strong factor in selection, more so when it seems to be noted as a significant factor for other players being promoted...
I guess it depends if the focus is just possessions, or all aspects of a players game

Binns is the highest rated player in the VFL, but the discussions always seem to focus on Dow being hard done by

Anyway, appreciate you taking the time to respond

Reports are JHF also another out.

You guys will definitely get up

Bugger.
JHF and Butters are champs and the ones I was looking forward to watching the most, prefer to take on Port at full strength when we're up and going.

With our finals chances on the line, we need to take every kind of advantage we can get mate:)

I understand your feelings and hope we do also, but if we don't make the final 8, we've got no one to blame but ourselves.

edit. If * make it, then we should be above them.

It's not Paddy's fault that we offloaded our alternative midfield depth for half a bag of chips last year. Are we not to discuss him as a possible change for an injured clearance mid?

Oh come on, in all likelihood, Setterfield was likely to spend much of this season in the VFL like Dow has been, and Voss told him as much, and that is why we traded him to Essendon.

Setters was a serviceable player for us, but clearly was no longer a best 22 player for us by the end of last season.

Think the Dow discussion is less relevant now than before. 4/5 weeks ago Cripps, Walsh and Hewett and the side all playing poorly. Extremely poorly.

That would have been the time to try out Dow.

Now we are in form and its simply a decision between Hewett and Dow for the Kennedy role. Given Hewett is part of our future and Dow isn't; if it is a 50/50 call (because Hewett is in average form) we should still go Hewett.

This would probably have been their reasoning all season for dow knowing he is leaving. But what about picking Ed. That is the sillyness.

Without wanting to start a debate - setters was a good tackler and I would hazard a guess with hewetts injury and when Cripps was wearing an ankle brace, hardly running during the week and moving like a turtle in games we very likely would've seen setters used, but I think the moves still a positive one for him and Carlton. Back to the port game now....

JHF afraid of facing Jack Silvagni again, faking injuries to avoid having to front up to JSOS

Not sure why we haven’t tried Cottrell in a tagging role over Ed who’s clearly past it.

Cottrell would have the discipline and running ability to go with almost anyone.
Wins a lot of 50/50’s as well, not sure how his light frame would stand up to the bulls though, his work in the loose ball 1 on 1’s is exemplary though!👍

Very kind of you. Ta.
Or maybe you think so poorly of us, you are resting up half your team?
Hard to know.
But it is a stroke of luck for us.
I hope it is a great contest, whoever is plaYing.

No one is dropping JSOS. Been top 3 in game the last couple.

No he hasn't. Hasn't been in the top 5-6 in any of those games, let alone top 3.

He would be unlucky, but for team balance under the circumstances, I think it would be the right call.

Guess we will find out one way or the other in 10 minutes.

Afl player ratings rated him number 1 in the hawthorn win. But the other game yes. He wasn’t rated as high as I suggested.
