Obviously a bit of a down game today. Wasn’t the forward focal point and went into the ruck. Still competed and worked hard but does appear to be tiring. I think a rest and freshen up will do him some good. Head back to the SANFL, work on your fitness, staying in the game, maybe some ruck minutes and build your game so you’re ready if we need you in the second half of the season

When Ken finally moves on, maybe Carr will be strong enough and not so self conscious and bring in a goal kicking specialist?

Tredrea surely picked up a few habits and mechanics from Perkins, Schultz was great in his time, both played with Josh. Thurstans, Bishop, Mark, Stephen or Jenny Williams…

Anyone?

Except for the fact he simply can’t kick at goal.
Could have had 5+ today.

Again, this is not a Lord problem. Young Port key forwards spend a time where they completely forget how to kick for goal for some reason. Butcher had it and it tanked his career. Marshall worked his way through it. Georgiades and Lord are both in the midst of it.

It's mental and it's systemic.

Josh Carr isn't afraid to get outside help.

From what I saw he has a good set of mits and he’s aggressive.

Are you suggesting WGT could help?

I have no one in mind, but Josh Carr when he was coach at North was happy to bring in people he thought could add to his group. Jenny Williams was there giving sports psychology intervention.

He was stuffed by 3 quarter time, but he presented all the time he was on the ground. Most players with the yips would have dropped off as their confidence crashed but he never quit. You can't teach that.

He did a lot right today, sure bad kicking is bad kicking however comparing his issues &/or kicking action to someone as diabolical as Butcher is ridiculous.

It didn't start as a complete dumpster fire with Butcher either. He started his career 19 goals and 1 behind.

It’s the result from the kicks that count. Like Butcher, Lord has the ability to have multiple set shots on goal per game that don’t register a score. It was bizarrely bad today - Marshall too.
