Once again we become obsessed with mediocre talls despite all evidence that they simply remain mediocre, or in the case of Ratugolea, will likely become even more mediocre at a new club that isn't quite as good.

North wasted cash and picks on players like Corr and Logue over the past 2 years, only for them to regress as soon as they got to the club - two players that this board were keen for us to look at, might I add. Both are better than McKay and Ratugolea who seem to be recent obsessions.

Riccardi + Ratagulea is an upgrade on Frost + Kozi. No one’s suggesting we sell the farm, but would definitely improve the team. Both young enough that they fit the profile too. Not against it. Trade future first for an early pick this year and back ourself in to rise up the ladder.

We drafted Connor Macdonald and Seamus Mitchell with second round selections.

A poor kick with suspect game sense is not worth the possibility of missing out on players such as the aforementioned, despite any and all athletic gifts.

Happy to agree to disagree, but I'm not keen on Ratagoulea at a price anywhere near that.

I don't mean to sound rude, but I'm genuinely interested to know what you've seem from Esava so far in his career that makes him an upgrade on Frosty?

Esava would be a waste for us. He's okay in a strong Geelong side when he has protection but when he's one out he's not great. Wouldn't be an improvement on Blanck.

Is it just me or do we have a number of our of contract players as we reach the end of the year?

Is an average gorilla KPD better than no gorilla KPD at all?

He's 24 and should be about to hit his prime. Is his prime any good? We are desperate. Who else is realistically available in the next 2 years?

Collingwood traded Mal Micheal. This gives me a glimmer of hope on this.

Our interest in ratagoulea may just be for market intel reasons or to promote competition with another club such as port where we may have interest in another player. It’s rarely as simple as it seems.

He looked terrible as a forward / ruck. Has looked solid as a defender imo. You’ve got the premiers wanting to keep him and the team second on the ladder trying to get him. He is definitely an upgrade on Sam Frost.

He hasn't really shown the game sense or footy IQ, and he skies most kicks and is shakey in disposal.
He's similar to Frost, but despite his athleticism I think he offers less.
He certainly offers a lot less on exposed career form as well.

He's not a gorilla KPD though. He's an interceptor that can't kick, not what we need at all.

Blanck.

This. If Esava could lockdown I’d see value in picking him up. Same with McKay.

But neither can. They look great under a high ball. But we need defenders who can defend better when the ball comes in quick.

Pick 3, nexts years 1st and Brockman to Eagles
Pick 1, pick 19 and pick 37 ( their 3rd rounder) to Hawks.
Several problems to overcome in my view.
First eagles are not dumb enough (I.e. not the suns) to throw brockman into any trade. Without a contract we have no hand they can walk him to the PSD. Given how bad the eagles were it’s hard to fathom how we are in this situation for a player we seemingly want to keep. I suspect he’s gone and we will be lucky to get anything decent we are relying on them acting with integrity. Only DGB in contract could be part of the trade but his currency is not strong.
Second pick 19 gets eaten by McCabe bid as it pushes out to about pick 23 after academy and father sons. It’s a waste - the value of pick 19 is having it on the night when clubs come for a slider.
Third our pick 3 doesn’t guarantee them Curtin especially if North get the compo pick at pick 3.
Essentially we get pick 1 and 37 and lose 2 early firsts and brockman if they did it which I am sure they won’t.
North are about to get handed a bumper draft hand they will have 2,3,17 and pre list sanders in the top 10. If they can’t do a deal with the eagles for Reid then shut the joint down.

Esava would be solid depth, our KPD stocks are thin as ****. There is absolutely value in pursuing players that aren't gonna play every game. But you don't really want to pay a second rounder for a player that isn't in ur ideal best 22 so unless we are working with a pick 40-50+ I'd prefer to give him a miss. But wtf do I know, I don't watch him play lol

Personally can’t see the afl handing north sanders and pick 3. I think sanders probably happens and at best they get a pick after their second for mckay. The sanders pick probably wipes out their second and McKay compo.
