Please don’t bring Barrett’s sliding doors rubbish here. That’s not the Hawthorn footy club in the media.

That’s a desperate article, trying to get clicks every week.

He’s trolling the tigers. Both teams seemed to have fair talent to work with in the twos
Whether he is trolling them or not it is the truth. Our young players, so far, are showing much more than what Richmond’s are. Their spine is in big trouble and Taranto/Hopper are very one dimensional.

The tigers are on the way down and we will be moving past them next season no doubt in my mind.

Richmond's days in the sun are done for quite a while IMO. They've got many holes to fill and a lot of guys at the end or very near the end of careers.
We will win a flag way before they ever will.

Of the team playing yesterday in 5 years time when I expect we are at the pointy end their team won’t have
Dusty
Cotchin
Riewoldt
Soldo
McIntosh
Prestia
Pickett
Broad
Rioli
Grimes
Vlaustin

Add those not playing
Short
Lynch
Nankervis

Well done for your 2* premierships. Going to be back to usual programming for the tigers for hopefully another 36 years!

Some great wraps given to Sam and the team from Daniel Hoyne from championship data on Sen just before.

Basically since round 2 we are:

3rd in the comp for ball movement

6th in contested ball

1st contested ball once hits deck

Also we have 4 of the best 50 players in the comp (Sicily, Jai, Amon and I missed the last).

That was good radio and he gave Wardy a bit of wrap too 👍. He also mentioned that we use the corridor more than most so for a young side Hawks fans should be happy.

Moore has had a disappointing season compared to his 2022 season, though he's still been good for a HFF.

As for that CD list, I think it would be easy to pick 50 players that have had better seasons to date.

Sicily and Newcombe would definitely be in the top 50 players this season though.

Edit: having a look I would say Moore would be at the very back end of the top 100, if he was lucky.

i battled for Moore being a top 50 player all last year but this year he's a little bit off the boil to my eye. wonder what it is CD measures that's keeping him tiered as elite considering he's kicking half as many goals
Think its because he is playing higher up the field this year. Think he has been ok but form has fluctuated a bit.

Based on Healey and Cornes reaction after Hoyne mentioned Newk’s name ……. he will be a respected player among oppo supporters!

Depends how much value you place on Champion Data i place very little. The best measurements are precise and adjusted against expectations, roles etc. I find it to be very vague they don’t even publish how it’s measured.
Sorry the incredibly precise published definition of disposal efficiency is below. Don’t waste your time with it.

It's not really prejudiced against role, the point is that it's attempting to be less prejudiced against role - it's certainly less so than simply measuring by disposals, super coach score or fantasy score.

I think that Hoyne actually got this wrong though, according to the official Champion Data ratings we do have 4 players their ratings consider to be top 50 but they're Newc, Sicily, Worpel and Day. Maybe he's referring to a specific period of time but just didn't mention it? Not sure.

I have a feeling that Hoyne is using a measurement that runs over 2 years, they used to list that one on the AFL website but they don't anymore. It would explain why Moore is rated higher considering how well he was rated last year. According to their ratings for this year he isn't even in the top 100 and neither is Amon.

He said it was under the “new rating system” that they are rolling out. Not sure much beyond that.

I don't get the Moore inclusion, then. Probably his worst year in his 3 year break out period.

Hoyne said that the system is an expectation rating. Not literal output.
I try to defend Champion Data where I can but it doesn't help when Hoyne uses multiple different models, in particular models that aren't the publicly available one which most people refer to
