He’s the highest paid player at the club in 2023. Regardless of whether he stays or goes he will be earning less than 50% of what he’s on this year to continue his career.

With the number of possible parts between Hawthorn and West Coast (Ryan, Brockman, DGB), you’d have to think a pick 1 for 3 trade would come up in conversations.

How does this shape:
Eagles: Pick 3 (Curtin), DGB, Brockman, second round pick
Hawks: Pick 1 (Reid), Ryan, late picks worth more points than the second rounder traded out for McCabe bid

Could horse trade some other 2024 picks to balance it if it skews slightly one way but I could see something like this happening

What we would rather might not come into it though. If skewed, a further 2024 pick swap could balance (ie swap 2024 second rounders, third rounders). The question is if those players are in the mix, it would make sense if the pick 1, pick 3 swap forms part of the conversation

I understand that is the aim, but a lot has got to to right including keeping Brocky with Ryan. However, I can’t see it happening.

If we re signed Brocky and somehow traded for Ryan, do you think we would still draft the Wiz?

I hope we can get Caleb Windsor in the draft. I’ve seen him and his brother both play and they just ooze class. Unfortunately we never grabbed Kai as a rookie. I was sure he would have put in a great season for The Stangers and got selected in the mid season but his ankles have failed him and he hasn’t even played a game this season.
Caleb has the drive and professionalism while Kai had the material flair.
Anyway, I believe we need to really draft and trade for our front half this season.
