Hawks won't part with Pick 3 unless Pick 1 is involved. As it will allow Hawthorn to get either Watson/Curtin/McKercher

Eagles will likely want more than what Hawks are willing to pay for Pick 1. So Pick 3 will effectively be off the table.

Reid and Walter then daylight third. McKercher probably next who North will take #3 after Suns match Walter bid at #1 or #2 so essentially your pick is pick 4 (and that’s assuming the AFL don’t gift North McKay compo and push it to pick #5). I don’t think there’s a huge difference between Curtain/Watson/Sanders/Duursma/Caddy depending on need so I don’t think sliding from 4/5 to 8/9 is a big deal in this draft. Only reason Eagles would do well with your pick is that we have this horrendous obsession with WA talent rather than best available and I’m genuinely concerned we will take Curtain #1 despite Reid clearly being our need.

I really hope we don't go for Gresham. Mitchell is building something a lot more special than that.
Me too. This week I've heard some worrying things re Gresham. Not very popular amongst the Saints group for various reasons.

I did a little bit of maths and he'd need to be paid in the top 5% of players his age (there are 63 players his age, so that means he'd have to be top 3). Meaning he's competing with Weitering, Bowes, Hipwood, Larkey, English, Redman and of course his dear brother. The new contract would need to be worth over 800k per year. It should not happen.

But then I remember the AFL is involved, so different "interpretations" are possible. They would love nothing more than to help North and punish us in one move, and then claim it's all in the formula.
It happened for Frawley and Ablett.

If I'm not mistaken, the whole reason why Eagles are into Pick 3(4 or 5) is have a good chance at landing Curtin.

I don't include Walters, because Suns are that loaded with points from picks, it doesn't matter where a club bids on him. The Suns will get him regardless & has been that way for some time.

If there's no difference between the players such as Caddy/Duursma & Co. Why come after Pick 3 unless you had Curtin in mind?

The point of a 3 way trade is to appeal to all clubs best interests. Hawthorn are likely to split their existing second round (tied to the Bulldogs) for later picks for to get McCabe as a father/son.

McCabe touted to be a top 15 Pick at this stage. So Pick 26 is useless to Hawks. Why would we downgrade 4 spots of our first pick for essentially nothing? That trade you proposed makes no sense from Hawthorn's point of view.

From the Herald Sun today

Along with Sanders, the club’s recruiting boss Brady Rawlings admitted the Roos were keen to bolster their key position stocks as well.

“We certainly need to look at that key defensive position,” Rawlings said on a club video.

“We are well aware we haven’t picked very tall over recent seasons.”

Given those comments there's noway they can select both McKercher & Watson with Curtin available
Yet they're walking McKay out the door

We're not downgrading pick 3 for an injury prone 27 year old. He's worth an early second on the open market.
You lot are going through our Tom Mitchell phase.

Aside from it not benefiting us really, your other problem is you can’t trade the hawks pick back to us it’s not allowed.

Is that like Jaeger and the Rabbit on holiday together?

TD, would you like Flying Ryan in our forward line? I would, although he seems lazy sometimes, does a change of environs bring back his enthusiasm?

That’s exactly why it appeals to eagles and as I said we have this unhealthy obsession with WA talent even if there are better players available despite our interstate player retention (bar Judd) being superb. I personally wouldn’t mind any of the players I mentioned above and would be perfectly fine keeping pick 7 for Barrass if that trade eventuates. There is also still no assurance North won’t take Curtain first but I suspect they will take McKercher. You can’t just exclude a player as a pick because they are attached to an academy, Walters is still the best or second best player in the draft otherwise on that logic you’d be arguing that every pick is worth more than what it actually is. Suns alone have 3 players not to mention Croft, McCabe etc that could be taken in the top 15 so pick 15 is only going to end up getting you the 20th best player (at best) in the draft for example so it’s not pick 15 it’s pick 20. As far as McCabe goes you could split the pick and get more draft points.

I think the trade I suggested works out for everyone given Mitchell is apparently keen as mustard on Ryan for whatever reason but if it’s not to everyone liking no problem, might be a good starting point though.

I would. But I'm not giving up too much. I just want us to re sign Brocky. Don't want him to leave.

Ryan is a sublime footballer.
Not sure how we would pay for him? He is definitely worth a first round pick.
Is it time to trade Breust eldorado ?
He’s a very good footballer but I’m his current state definitely not worth a first rounder we don’t know if he will get back to his best he’s missed a whole year plus he’s known to be lazy even west coast supporters admitted this. Future send at the most.

I also want him haha

Maybe he just knows when to use his energy.
A lot of people thought Stevie J was lazy.
Players like this are the difference in September
