Not sure Newman would get a game for us, even now. Who does he displace?

Seems a good decision even in hindsight.

He also probably needed a bit of a kick up the butt/ change of scenery

I just watched and Campbell was on Toby. Stephens was marking someone else.

I would say Stephens looked very casual in those last couple minutes though.
Yep Campbell was on him, but Dyl was closest to smother… he went in half heartedly with a token effort ... given the state of the game I’d like to see our players desperately diving with outstretched arms and hands.., reckon he could’ve blocked/touched that kick. I’m a big fan of Dyl’s but that was one he’d like to have back. Anyway it was prbly a few efforts like that made Horse drop him for an extended period.

He wouldn't. That is why the argument is silly to suggest a certain player would not get a game at this club or that club. Clubs have certain needs and some players just fit for whatever reason and don't fit elsewhere. Newman was error prone especially under pressure, didn't like physical contact, was slow and could turner over as much as Lloyd on a bad day. Good luck to him fitting Carlton's needs, improving and being happy where he is but he would not get a game with us even if they were to go on and win the flag and he was a premiership player. He does not fit.

Is Harmes just a good solid citizen and mature body who can be captain of the vfl side?
Or do we see him playing in the AFL?
Let's just say he is a better and more complete footballer than Ryan Clarke and that is not having a crack at Clarke. If there is room on our list for Clarke types taking his running ability aside then Harmes would add footy ability and toughness. Which we need I might add. Not Psuedo Maynard toughness or Papley Smacktalk. Just general toughness at the contest where a Bull will stand his ground and not retreat at all. Tbh I don't know where the talk about him comes from anyway. Its James Jordan mentioned isn't it ?

Ollie or Harry.
Doubt it. Doesn’t play the lock down role Harry does, Florent perhaps but I think he will be a better footballer once their careers are done (and I wouldn’t replace Florent with him either even now, has more attributes, speed, evasiveness).

He is a fairly easily replaceable player.

Personally I like Jordon as an adaptable player who can play several positions and seems disciplined and clever.

If he comes to us he'd be an upgrade on several players we will likely delist.

However list spots for us are very tight.

For the amount of absolute shite that people text in, it can probably be totally ignored ...

... But some dude texted Whateley saying he was a cab driver and just dropped Stephens off at Essendon's training ground.

Lol.... did chuckle... imagine the negotiation with Dodo?

On a different matter, why anyone would support lolNorf being granted assistance is beyond my imagination.

The tin rattling hysteria from the Club and its nine fans is beyond the pale. They will likely be granted Pick 3 for McKay which is ludicrous .

Given the nine fans have to bribed with free pies to go to games and they are the least watched Vic club on telly, the Comp has no vested interest in helping them out.

What cabbie would even know what he looks like🤣 Stephen’s being courted by Norf would be one thing….but Norf and the Bombres, that is an insult to him, he is definitely better than that. It’s surprising Port has never been thrown into the mix.

Free pies you say…..

Pretty sure Dawson didn’t announce his intention to leave till after the B&F.
Think the circumstances are WAY different. Dawson had a very good contract offer and had indicated he would stay and then jumped. Dyl is on the fringe and wondering whether to move to play consistent seniors footy.

My issue with them getting assistance is that they seem more interested in getting draft picks than winning games.

Why would they have not made any offer to McKay? He is 25. Even if he is a bit overrated, he is clearly their best key defender. They are just taking the piss.

Next year they will be awful again, they will let Zurhaar and Thomas go, and they will want more assistance.

How about they assist themselves by not giving away the decent players they already have?!

You telling me a young fellah like that doesn't get an uber!?
