but the Swans’ offer would be likely to be higher than the two Victorian clubs in a bid to tempt him interstate and out of acceptance of the higher cost of living in Sydney.

This is why I am always so negative as to why we won't easily sign these players unless they have some sort of life style issues they need addressed, needing to move for family reasons, or are on their last chance.

If you feel McKay & Grundy fall into this category then start celebrating, but make no mistake, it will cost us more than those other clubs looking to bring them in & we no longer get any assistance to address any difference.

I'm cool with that but will never get excited about all this media talk & hype.

Best I get back on topic before I am growled at.

I am relieved Stephens seems our only player subject to Trade Rumours.

I worry behind the scenes, some Clubs have asked the question on players like HHK. No doubt Managers with Bloods up for contract renewal in 2024 are sniffing the breeze for their clients.

For example there would not be one Club who wouldn't want Errol on their list.

He already looks a generational player.

There are some cashed up Bogan Clubs that will offer staggering amounts for him. His signature should be the Clubs highest List Management priority.

Not quite sure why you’re worried about HHK.

He’s a potential delisting & if we could pull off a Sam Murray style trade …. Happy days!

Teams aren't going to waste too much time on players they have almost no chance of signing.

I don't think you need to worry about Gulden leaving.

By the hairs on my Chinny, chin, chin I hope you are right.

I'm guessing Godfather offers of circa $1.2pa could be made next year.

Mills probably wouldn’t be as well rounded player that can play in multiple positions, certainly wouldn’t be as good at defence and probably wouldn’t be any better or a midfielder. Hardly wasted talent.

Would you have preferred he waited in the reserves instead of winning the rising star in 2016 as a defender?

Dawson was a forward when he came to the Swans.

Remaining cranky about this is interesting to say the least but I’ll leave that one alone.

Sure. One and a bit seasons in defence is a fair intro but he just seemed a natural for the mids.

I reckon he is a great reader of the game and would always have been a high quality two way mid, with or without playing him at HB.

I get he was likely carrying injury this year and this may have led to more limited time in the mids and that is fair enough.

However I do not like the Mr Fixit role he is asked to play. He should be leading our midfield and imo playing him elsewhere is robbing Peter to pay Paul.

We were never a chance for pick 4. We had no where near enough first round picks.

Really? GoCo need a parcel of late second and third rounders for points plus a future first.

As well as the top three lads they have Graham who looks a second rounder.

I hope we are still in the running.

Our vested interest aside, I am delighted the GoCo have the whip hand in the draft.

Their days of being an exploited hothouse for talent ripped off by Vic and Sa Clubs has hopefully gone.

I wonder if a long term view on preserving the young draftees bodies was taken after watching Hannebery grind down his body as a young inside mid

Good point.

Initially I was sceptical of the value of offering them a future first but perhaps they can trade that out to someone else for more picks this year or just keep it for next year. So maybe it has more use than I thought.

They have enough points right now, this thing that they need points is weird. GC are only trading it if the offer is so good they can't resist.

Take out the pick 22 (which becomes pick 25 or so) too as we'll need that in the Grundy trade.

I love nobody gave a s**t about Newman leaving for the past 5 years, but suddenly after having 1 good season at the age of 30 his depature was a mistake and put down to Horse playing favourites.

I was unhappy at the time and made my views known then. Recall copping whacks for it.

He has had more than one good season at the Filth.

Stephens not asking for a trade makes it seem like he'll stay with the Swans.

Feel getting a few games late might help. Still feel if he wants North and genuine mid minutes it could be best for both parties and if we bank say a F2, then i'd take it

I can understand losing a player or two to not liking coaches. I've seen plenty of people move work because they didn't get along with their boss.

But after the reaction to Horse's 300th game as coach, no one can say he lost the playing group, imo
In between the Lines you will find that is what I am saying.
