Ok...so all those with solid senior experience but spent a fair whack of 23 in 2's look out - here's looking at Ladhams & Clarke . Got a 2009 feel this draft and trade period imo.

Won't be a future North 2nd rounder, that'd be about pick 20.

See what comes of the Eagles Pick 1, North might do some other pick swaps to move up and end up with a pick between 27-35ish. I'd want draft value this year.
Someone on North board suggested their F2, with a 3rd from us going back...

That's reasonable, but I'd rather get something this year. Still plenty to come with North and Eagles, potentially North and Blues (for Fisher). Who knows which picks they might have to play with.

And in before people bring up a Cleary bid, you'd package up any 2nds / unnecessary 3rd to get the best possible 2 or 3 picks before the mid 20s. Then match Cleary. Obviously need to sound out options beforehand.

I feel the club would understand that Stephens is leaving to get regular football which we can't offer him. So we probably get him to his preferred destination even if it is a later pick.

Also I don't think Stephens will want to leave the club on bad terms. So probably will try to avoid threatening to use the pre-season draft.
Agree with that last. He seems to have excellent character.

Wow - this is important news. The new CBA will have a 3 year mandatory contract for drafted top 20 players. This is something long requested by the northern clubs and is a welcome addition if it goes through.

Just hope he is dedicated
Why wouldn't he be ? Where did it come from that he wasn't ? Port supporters dribbling it because he gave them the cold shoulder and they start believing journo's saying their pitch was all about footy. They put 2 and 2 together and come up with 7 and assume their footy program is too hard for him and he wont buy in ? What the **** do they think we do at the Swans ? Play ****ing marbles ?
**** Port and their bogan West End Drinking moron supporters. He will be at the Swans and will be great for Us.

Take any second to be honest it’s fair and about right

Sad to see Stephens go. There have been glimpses of why he was pick 5 with that clutch goal in the final v dees in 2022 coming to mind. In between, there has been alot of tentative play, at times almost second guessing himself. It was very symptomatic of a player who was constantly worried about his spot. If he can secure his position in North's best 22, I reckon we might see the best of him.
