I danced for the Devil; I saw him, I wrote in his book; I go back to Jesus; I kiss His hand.

Actually zero years into the 7 year deal. Contracted through 2030.
Make no mistake, he is available. The dees have screwed this up.
I've just purchased a new North Guernsey on the off chance that I might bump into Clarry down at Southland so I can get his autograph.

If Oliver dud end up at North, when it goes **** up, there be a massive "sack Rawlings " and "negligent list management *" whinge.

Rawlings probably isn't here in 2024 anyway.

Well done on whoever started this story. You've succeeded in your goal of filling 3 days worth of useless chat and stupid scenarios on Trade Radio.
Still two weeks to go… time enough for the “Trade Kerridge”

I rate our current 'needs' as follows;
  1. FB/CHB
  2. Medium/Small Defender
  3. Small Forward/XFactor type
  4. #1 Ruck
  5. Outside runner/HBF type
  6. CHF
Clayton Oliver simply isn't a priority and would actively interfere with the development of LDU/Wardlaw etc.

If we can get Oliver for a reasonable price we would be nuts not to do it. We would be set for the midfield for the next 5 years. Pick 3 is the reasonable price. We swap McKay and a few hundred $k a year for Oliver. Obviously the dees won’t let him go for just pick so the entire argument is moot.
We still would have the AFL assistance picks of #19 and 2024 #19 and #20...They could (not would) offer any of #3, #5, #15,#19 and 2024 #19 and #20 to offer West Coast for Pick #1 to get Reid...We would only have #2, #14, #40 and our 2024 Future picks to offer..but we would have Oliver.

You have to take the same theory as you do with your top picks.

You don't draft for needs, you have to take best available.

TBH, if Oliver was a realistic chance, Tom Powell will be shopped around this trade period.

The two obvious ones for Oliver are Geelong and Essendon, both would hand over this years and next years first.
Geelong. You know it makes sense. They will somehow swap Esava Ratagouleioaiaa for Clayton Oliver and then their coach will go on TV again and talk about draft manipulation with a straight face.

I reckon they'd both like him but neither have the prerequisite capital.

If Melbourne want a top 5 pick in the package, its us, WC, Hawthorn, GC, or the Dogs (who could get the GC pick).

Of those, the only two I can see affording Oliver's salary - unless the others can trade a contracted topliner - are us and the Hawks.

Bombers have the cap space, but only pick 8. Why would the Dees take that above a top 5 pick, especially when Dodoro doesn't have any elite key forwards to add?

Geelong have pick 7 and then nothing else. Even with their dubious accounting, I doubt they could just add 7 x $1m to their books.

[new scene, tracking shot]

Jy is wearing ledehosen as we walks uneasily through a crowd of busty Bavarian women, struggling to balance a very large tray of foamy Steiner glasses.

As he approaches his table, suddenly his phone starts ringing in his back pocket.

He glances backwards, unable to take the call.

LDU, Comben and Archer drunkenly cha-cha with some locals in the background
.

[Cut scene to Arden St]

Todd Viney sits alone in a darkened office, holds a phone pensively against one ear.

An awkward moment passes.

Don’t care about Oliver if somehow he came awesome. Should he not awesome again.

But I did enjoy the amount of Carlton fans offering up Magoo- two.

The Magoo’d bros ( plural for singular Magoo) make me laugh.

Both ain’t much good at all. Never will be.

Carlton have realised it . Give * one year of Magoo and they’ll realize it as well .

Happy days
