He’s saying to deflect criticism about playing a player whose injuries are diminishing their performance. So, of course the player goes under the bus in that situation.

I think we're sometimes a bit too quick to label players mentally weak, in Todd's case his goal kicking being off. Blame the coach for selecting him by all means.

Yep. Was asked to play through injury instead of going into surgery in a year the coach is chasing a new contract / club needs to get wins to validate their decision to give Ken a new contract.

Reckon Dixon , lycett and others never would have been playing this year and sent off for surgery / time to get right but this coach only cared about himself.
