Based purely on his highlights and recognizing he might lack a bit of mongrel, I can't see why we wouldn't have Archer Reid at the top of our list for the later first round picks. Could fill a massive gap for us and be a great partner for Larkey in the next couple of years.

Totally agree and whilst he isn’t an animal at the contest he does seem to crunch packs when given the chance

On November 20, we'll take five first-round selections into the AFL National Draft to add further weight to our existing raft of recent early draft talent.

Of those five picks, we’ll start with two of the first three selections.

So the message to Brady is very loud and very clear – you got us Harry and George last year, and we'd like another couple of those, please.

OMG Chadwiko - she's given away our draft strategy!!!!

I saw Zurhaar vs Bulldogs this year. He was standing flat footed in the goal square, whilst his opponent, Bulldog defender ran off, accepted the handball and streamed forward to set up another Bulldog attack.

I think it has to do with concentration, but they are basic mistakes.

You accept it from a first year player like B. George, but not a player who has been on the list for 5 years.

Sonja obviously still checks big footy and is reassuring the more sensible posters that the club isn't going to go on a silly trading exercise. Instead, we'll spend what we have wisely.

Her wording hasn't ruled out the F1 and 2 for 1 deal 👀.

I strongly doubt that's happening.

We've made our offer to West Coast, ball in their court now.

I’m thinking Riley Hardman is a bigger chance to be pick up at 15,17 or 18. Makes sense cause
Colby M lighting quick left footer good user
Dylan stephens quick good runner left footer
Zac fisher quick good left footer
North need defenders and good ball users Riley Hardman is quick , good ball user and Left foot defender
Clarkson loves left footers and by adding more speed get ready for a more exciting and faster game plan!

Fooking who?
Not an NBA fan? Luka Doncic, he was basically a professional player for Barcelona from the age of 13/14 years of age but was not taken till pick 3 in 2018 NBA draft because some teams were concerned about his ceiling. Atlanta Hawks traded the pick to Dallas Mavericks. Phoenix Suns and Sacramento Kings both passed on him and went taller at picks 1 and 2. The football equivalent is probably passing on Nick Daicos because of needs.

"IF" West Toast pick McKercher and we take Reid then who do we take with #3? Curtin, Duursma, Sanders, Watson or someone else? l for one would take Curtin...
If that were to happen (probs a 10% chance at this stage) then we cannot lose:

-Reid+McKercher gives us two players that will play next year. One will be a genuine utility giving us: Reid, Sheezel and Thomas who can be played pretty much anywhere on the field.

-Reid+Sanders gives us two power players. One genuine utility and a certified future gun mid. I would be completely fine with this.

-Reid+Curtin would be huge and would massively bolster our backline in 2024. Having the competitiveness, smarts, skill and size of these two playing on the HB flank would be incredible.

-Reid+Watson would be two instant match winners who could make an impact day dot.

-Like the Reid/Curtin combo, the Reid/Duursma combo gives us two power utilities that potentially could win games off their own boot as soon as next year.

My top three in this instance:
Reid/Curtin
Reid/McKercher
Reid/Sanders

He is the laziest and most selfish player on the list, behaves in a very entitled manner considering he came off a rookie list. I think others who set a higher standard are where we should invest dollars, game time etc. I sincerely hope that many players fly past him in the next season or two and that we find the right moment to cash in

Pretty harsh call…..thought not totally off the mark. I definitely think he could do a lot more to impose himself on the game. Goes missing far too often. But I think the fact he was a rookie kinda lets him slide a bit. He could be a lot better player, no doubt.

So now that the dust has finally settled thanks to Sonja statement what to do with 2,3,15,17,and 18...
What would it take to pry out Geelongs first pick on draft night. l know Sonja said we would take 5 picks into the draft but l would be happy with 4 if we could get the Cats pick..

Any serious ideas on how to get the trade done.

You have to allow for WC doing the background work of peddling out their future f1 and f2 to get back into the early picks.
Reid and Curtain is still a possible scenario for us.
You might have to take Curtain with 2 or 3 .

Understand your point of view, but id counter by saying none of TT, CZ, Curtis or Stephenson are near their prime.

If Zurhaar leaves and becomes a 50+ goal a year player, which he is clearly capable of, then this move would have backfired.
Sleevo will find it hard to fit into our 22 next season.
Good problem 👍

Exactly what you should be doing. Keep Reid , trade F1 for a top 4 pick and take DC. Those 2 would be an epic draft for WC.
Are you confident your bloke will do it though? He’d need to be pretty confident where DC gunna get to.

The one position where Freo are set is in their key defensive stocks. Pearce, Cox, Chapman, Ryan ect. They need forwards and midfielders.
Fully expect Curtin to play as a sweeping winger or in the guts like a taller Will Day for Hawthorn.

He is a true utility. It’s kind of crazy to think that potentially 3 of the top 5 players are utilities.

Eh..we reading the same thing? How about broaden that out mate?

He's paid to be a forward not the stupid positions that Noble tried to play him in 21 and 22?
Sleevo won't be best 22 if we draft well in a few weeks time.

His tackling and defensive pressure (while improving a little since he has been at North) is simply not good enough in the modern era. With the type of forward line we are going with in '24 we can't afford any weak links in the tackling/pressure area - especially so if that forward is only getting the ball 10 times for 1 goal a game.

He will remain useful depth for the remainder of his contract unless somehow he can find his 2018 form and some material defensive improvement.
