So now that the dust has finally settled thanks to Sonja statement what to do with 2,3,15,17,and 18...
What would it take to pry out Geelongs first pick on draft night. l know Sonja said we would take 5 picks into the draft but l would be happy with 4 if we could get the Cats pick..

Any serious ideas on how to get the trade done.
Pick 15,17&18 plus future 2nd to geelong
NM get pick 8 & 25 Future 3rd
Nm 2 Colby M
3 z Duursma
8 Connor O Sullivan
25 Archie schonemakers
57 whoever slides

Fully expect Curtin to play as a sweeping winger or in the guts like a taller Will Day for Hawthorn.

He is a true utility. It’s kind of crazy to think that potentially 3 of the top 5 players are utilities.
I love Curtin. Wish we could somehow end up with Colby, Dursma and Curtin……pipe dream though. But that would be unreal for us.

Sleevo won't be best 22 if we draft well in a few weeks time.

His tackling and defensive pressure (while improving a little since he has been at North) is simply not good enough in the modern era. With the type of forward line we are going with in '24 we can't afford any weak links in the tackling/pressure area - especially so if that forward is only getting the ball 10 times for 1 goal a game.

He will remain useful depth for the remainder of his contract unless somehow he can find his 2018 form and some material defensive improvement.
If Duursma is drafted, we won’t see much of Sleevo in the forward line next year.

Duursma 189cm - Zurhaar 189cm - Thomas 189cm

George 187cm - Larkey 198cm - Ford 189cm

Exactly what you should be doing. Keep Reid , trade F1 for a top 4 pick and take DC. Those 2 would be an epic draft for WC.
Are you confident your bloke will do it though? He’d need to be pretty confident where DC gunna get to.
I am allowing for the Simpson/Mitchell connection.😁
Hawthorn have the 4th pick and who knows what could eventuate over a few coldies.
We still expect a 17th or 18th finish in 2024 so f1 or f2 is pretty attractive. I Guess we will see soon.

why are Geelong doing that? any time I hear anyone talk who's actually in the industry, they all say how difficult it is to trade up into the top 10, and Geelong are going to trade down to 20 (which is where 15 will be after bids)?

I think any later than hawks and he will be gone IMO.

It doesn't get more conclusive than this from Sonja Hood

"On November 20, we'll take five first-round selections into the AFL National Draft to add further weight to our existing raft of recent early draft talent.

Of those five picks, we’ll start with two of the first three selections.

So the message to Brady is very loud and very clear – you got us Harry and George last year, and we'd like another couple of those, please."
You say it’s conclusive but the way it’s worded doesn’t rule out a trade on draft night, “we’ll take… into the draft” and “we’ll start with…”

I suspect you‘re right and nothing changes but this hasn’t completely shut the door yet…

Can’t see the hawks doing that, however tempting that eagles f1 is.

Maybe we should get in with our f1 and trump the eagles with a later first this year 😉
Mckercher, Duursma, curtin. Sex!

I suspect we won't be able to get up the order, even on draft night. Seems like is very hard. I'm sure Crows, Swans, North, GWS and Dees are probably all trying to move up and not having much luck. Maybe if someone they all want is gone but appears slim.

I think we will turn one of the teens into a F1……who doesn’t luv a death ride!!

Hahah ch 7 you muppets…
” time is running out for clarko….” As the lead in story For sport tonight
then gelmi leads with story….today was the cut off time for trading picks and the eagles still hold number one…but north can trade up for pick one on draft night.
what a useless nothing news piece…less than 20 seconds…for the lead story…..…..they really want us to trade away for pick one ….talk about getting desperate for the story they want……😂😂

It will be talked about all the way to the draft unless WCE come out and say they aren't trading it.

A showcase of Colby McKercher at his best over the course of the 2023 season.

Everytime I watch this kid I get pretty excited at the prospect of teaming him up with LDU & Wardlaw. Going to have 3 powerful burst mids, rounds out our midfield group nicely imo. Give him a licence to go for goal anywhere near 50 too.

Seeing this makes me think that Duursma is not really a need for us. Not a knock on his ranking within this draft, just with Ford's development and George yet to play, is he going to fill a gap. I look at the above and think we really need a crumber in the front half, not another mid size forward.

I'm thinking he could possibly follow Taylor's trajectory. High flyer in juniors but without the height or strength his game might not translate to the AFL.

I think that he and Stephens will help out Phillips, too. We need guys on the outside who can spread and handball receive.

Taylor was never rated a top 3-5 prospect in his draft.
