Him practicing a few set shots here and there won't change anything until he sorts out 2 main things.

1. It's all mental with him, his 2 grand final goals show he can kick important goals as long as he has no time to think about them. Soon as he does it all gets to him. Struggle to see him really changing it now

2. His ball drop for set shots is all over the place. Spins the ball and ends up holding it different everytime. Can't tell me Tmac is a ¼ as talented as him but he keeps the ball drop compact

Might as well make Brown goalkicking coach for the year lol. He’s cooked but I’d still trust him over 95% of the list. Same with Melk.

No apostrophe for Valentine's Day on the cards or in the video. That's the standard we've come to expect.

I hate everything they do.
Linguistic descriptivism is the way to go. 🤗

Oliver’s race for round one

Clayton Oliver will play in Melbourne’s match simulation against Richmond on Sunday – but not with the senior side – as he races the clock to be ready for the start of the home-and-away season.

Oliver will not be part of an under-strength Demons team, also missing a host of stars including Christian Salem, Harrison Petty and recruit Shane McAdam, for the first four of the seven periods set aside for the AFL team and will instead take the field with the reserves for the final three stanzas at Casey Fields.

The champion midfielder is in top physical condition but is short on match fitness, a source with knowledge of the situation said, as he had not taken part in match simulation over the summer with the rest of the squad.

Oliver resumed training with the main group this week having been with the rehab group since returning from leave to focus on his personal issues on February 1.

If he can get through the match, Oliver will be in contention to face Carlton in an official practice game next week to press his claims for selection in the AFL’s season-opener against Sydney at the SCG on March 7.

But given Oliver’s injury issues last year when he missed 10 games due to a hamstring problem, the Dees will not want to take any risks in their handling of the four-time club champion for round zero mindful they are embarking on a campaign that could stretch deep into September.

That Oliver is in contention at all should be a source of optimism for their supporters after his turbulent off-season in which the club demanded he meet off-field standards, was hospitalised after a seizure, underwent minor knee surgery and fined $600 for driving while his licence was suspended on medical grounds.

Hampered by injuries and suspension at the business end of last year, the Demons again have several injury concerns heading into the match practice swing of the pre-season.

Kosi Pickett is out of round zero due to suspension. Petty and McAdam are considered unlikely to be ready to face the Swans but may play the following week against the Western Bulldogs. Petty has had surgery to fix a nerve-related issue with a toe, while McAdam has battled a soft-tissue problem.

Wingman Lachie Hunter, veteran Tom McDonald and former Brisbane big man Tom Fullarton are in the frame to come in for next week’s practice game, while Ben Brown could also face the Blues after making better progress than expected managing his troublesome knee.

Star half-back Salem, coming off a minor hamstring strain, will build through the reserves against Richmond.

Oliver won’t start in seniors in race towards season

heck, poor Disco. Seems to get injured a bit.

Lucky we've got good coverage at the moment down back with Hore, Howes and Tomlinson all pushing for selection

Id argue we have * all coverage, Disco was going to play a big part for us this year.

I think we need to try Schache back now but most likely it will end up being TMac.
If required it’ll be Tmac now. Given he has been training back and Schache forward. Imagine we’ll hit round 0 with May Lever and Tomo.

Wait we’re playing tomorrow? Not sure I’m ready for the footy to start yet, watching us gives me the shits, cricket season is so much more chill.

Anyway, hoping for a good hitout tomorrow, no injuries pls.

I know a broken bone isn't Selwyn's fault but it's just another injury to a long list since he's been in charge. Out the door please.

In better news that top 5 pick will be nice at the end of the year.

Nothing but injuries since Burgess left. Is this Selwyn muppet pushing them too hard? I've got no faith in the fitness team since Burgo left.

Disco was decent depth in an area we have virtually no depth. List is looking fragile tbh. Tmac looking more likely to play than not now unfortunately.

I’m usually very much the optimist. But this pre season has a 2019 smell about it.

Keen as, another haul like Kozzie, Rivers and Bongs Jackson... then all we need is another global pandemic and the 2026 flag is ours!!!

I'd trust and rate Hore over Disco, no need to put the veil on the backline yet. As markm said above we still have May, Lever, and Tomo fit which we know is a solid backline. I'm assuming Rivers, Bowey, and Mcvee are fit as well.

The forwards are the concern.
