The AFL will do everything in its power to get Sydney or GWS a Premiership. It must really grate them that Sydney have been flogged in the last 3 GF they have played in.fox footy reporting COLA is coming back ?!
Hill is/was a gun. Loved him during our threepeat. He was worth more than we got from Freo, I thought the club could’ve taken a harder stance at the table but clearly put Hill’s interests ahead of ours. No, myopic supporters forget that this is a job for the players and when out of contract they are free to choose their employer and contractural terms just like any other person in this country. Being well remunerated or playing a sport you happen to enjoy doesn’t mean someone surrenders their ability to make a choice.
9 Hawthorn players on Sunday started their careers at other clubs but now play for us - just wondering if they’re all mercenaries also?
I think about it like this, if you in a position where you know and like the culture and the people around you and you are on 500k a year how much would it take you to go somewhere new where you barely know anyone, where you have to learn everything about the place, where you need to learn all those things about team mates people around the club. I always expect clubs to retain playersIronically the fact that so few AFL players are solely motivated by money has really hurt us the last 5-6 years. We have been front ending contracts for half a decade hoping to land big names with the extra dollars but AFL players are mostly motivated by team success, individual development and lifestyle factors of where they and their families want to live. At the end of the day, with the salary cap and after tax, the difference between the biggest offers and the offers strong sides can make anyway is rarely life changing. It’s not like a $20M difference in other sports.
Spot onHill chased the money.
Not only did clubs pay the money but what they got in return was a lazy , unmotivated player who some would even argue was overweight but still getting games to justify why the club chased him.
Our team of growing youngsters do not need this personality disrupting what we are growing.
Weddle, McDonald, Day will be asking for more chocolates come contract time.
I think they deserve it more than a blow in that relies on reputation rather than hard sweat to get games.
He will tap Clarko next.
Good player, but no thanks.Rumours that Charlie Cameron wants out of Lions!
Yeah we’ve now got that area of the ground covered …….. but hopefully it stops all the Hill talkGood player, but no thanks.
We need to avoid doing a St.Kilda and topping up to play finals and then crashing back down.

So would the club. Surprised to see some on here baulking at the idea of a 50 goal a season forward in his primeI would take Cameron in a heart beat.
Is he in his prime though? So would the club. Surprised to see some on here baulking at the idea of a 50 goal a season forward in his prime
