We've managed to find a place for that sort of hard working, pressure/defensive forward who runs his arse off in the rubbish role for a while.

Twomey was talking up Garcia's sprint speed even though he wasn't able to test due to injury, funnily enough he was also speaking of Rosas at the same time in the same way. Both have run in the 2.9/20m sprint time.

I just don't know who he would replace, he's not taking Freddys spot and Switta already plays the low touches but high pressure type game. Would hope we are adding in goal threats rather than just pressure players.

Has anyone seen Rosas play at all?

1.7 goals for the Gold Coast, looks decent enough. Why are they pushing him out? Weaknesses in his game?

Had a read of the Rosas thread on Draft and Trading board. In summary:
  • Gold Coast fans can't understand the decision.
  • Didn't see many fans (if at all) state they didn't want him at their club next season.
  • Most seem convinced they'll be plenty of interest if he leaves - Essendon seems to be vibe when posters aren't talking about their own team.

If we were to lose Emmett to another club then having a faster, arguably more skilled, replacement for the squad would make sense - especially if we are going to start playing a lock down forward on the opposition rebounder like they all seem to do to us.

I would love to see us using a forward to lock down the rebounder, makes so much more sense than a traditional midfield tag for our squad.

Wow, that is reasonable confirmation of the vibes about MFC being somewhat of a mess currently.

Nathan Jones was a good player who gave his all for many years to a club that was pretty average. From memory he finished about the time MFC came good, some players are just unlucky with their timing.

Pickett yet to sit down with his manager eh. Interesting...

“Kozzy Pickett is driving back to Darwin as we speak. He’ll stop in at Adelaide and speak to his manager Peter Rohde ... he’s going nowhere,” Ralph said on Fox Footy’s On the Couch.

“He’s a bit homesick, as he always is. His younger sister lives in Melbourne, he’s there with his partner and young child.

“Ideally he’d love to have more Indigenous teammates and he doesn’t really have a home ... but he won’t be going anywhere.”

Ralph: My Kozzie is not a Freo player. He may be a liar, a pig, an idiot, a Freo player, but he is NOT a p0rn star!

We need to gamble on rosas
Him and Bolton would be amazing, he is a super fast version of Walters minus the begging for free kick part.
100% this.

The problem is our interest in Martin. Can't see us making a play for both (as well as Bolton/Kossie etc etc).

Surely Martin wouldn't be on the horizon if we knew Rosas was available on the cheap?

Can you play Bolton and Rosas in the same forward line as 3 talls and Sturt?

We really need one player providing some defensive pressure.

Looks great with the ball, and deadly in front of the goal, but the ball is already exiting our forward line too quickly.

We're just collecting small forwards at this point.
I really think we only have one on our list in Dealan.

Bolton is not a true forward pocket, I think he plays his best football when he gets up the ground, and runs through the middle. I would say he is more of a half forward, like Switta (but he can't kick goals) or Frederick.

Assuming we get Bolton, the other small forward should provide elite pressure, be excellent at getting front and center.

Scoreboard pressure builds defensive pressure, right now the smaller oppositions defenders can run off their man without too much risk.

EDIT: We would need to keep Switta though, I just don't think we need to be adding in more defensive minded forwards. If we can bring in Bolton and Rosas it would allow Switta to do what he does best.

I put it to you that almost every small forward you can think of has a higher impact up the ground.

Kozzie gets used at CBAs, Papley the same. Ginnivan has been pushing higher up the ground this year and is dominating, the smalls that can't push up and impact are the ones that simply aren't very good. Motlop is a good example of this.

Papley, Pickett, Ballantyne are the type of small forwards I am thinking off, and ones similar to that.

Great defensive pressure, good 1v1, good at getting front and center and kicking goals.

I am sure they both get the odd CBA, but it is a lot lower than what Bolton has done through his career.

Agree with the above sentiments.

Bolton + another small fwd who tackles and adds first class pressure.

Days of Banners, Emmet and Co are done. We won’t move to the next step with C grade small fwds.

Thing is Emmett is that small that tackles and brings pressure. There aren't many of these in the AFL that are also genuine goal threats, Pickett is the best in the league by far which is why it's so disappointing that we will most likely not get him this year.
