poor engrish
Sharp was one of our best players for 3/4's of the season. He is probably just stuffed.

His first full year playing AFL. I think a few of our players are stuffed. Draper looks like he is slowing down.

His kicking appears a lot more up and under than I remember earlier in the year. (My memory could be wrong)

Was he kicking better at the start of year?

I thought a bit better. He wasn't terrible which he is atm imo

The dream would’ve been to pinch one this year and phase out Fyfe, Walters, JOM.

That dream now goes to 2025.

Once we start entering 2026 Pearce, Ryan, Switta, Aish and others start hitting their 30s

We can certainly have a solid 5-6 year window but it pains me when people say we’re too young.

Trading for players is the cash investment.

Hitting the stock market is the draft. You understand the right :)
The Draft is Super, best bang for buck investment but takes time.
Trading is the Stock Market, Blue chip are expensive but usually better returns than the highly speculative stocks. Not wise if you are already poor and struggling to make ends meet.
Doing no trades and just turning over 4-5 a year is the cash investment. Very little to get ahead but at least you won't look silly.

Statistically we are too young. Those players you mentioned aren’t but across the gameday squad, we are unlikely to achieve much based on historical data.

I think this is made worse by our old players not playing very well as mentioned earlier.

Fyfe and Walters are barely best 22.
Aish has been dropped.
O'meara is a role player.
Pearce is injured.
Cox has missed most of the year.

etc etc

Who are the players in our best 22 who you want them to kick the ball to a leading forward?

I struggled to think of anyone as good as Walters or Mundy. Young was the only one that comes close, and I think most teams would have 3 or 4 players. Who have I missed??

Elite

Young
Maybe Treacy

Good

Brayshaw, Serong are ok
Sturt maybe ??

Serong and Brayshaw have been pretty bad.. one aspect of their games that needs improvement

I think Brayshaw is ok based on he knows his limitations and looks to handball first. If he must kick it’s rarely horrendous but it’s never an elite pass.

Serong is a better kick to target but he will just hack it onto the boot in a rush of panic.

Hence why both aren’t reliable kicks. They have their flaws.

Young is elite by every metric. Vision, placement etc.

Treacy a lazer, moves it quickly.

I actually think JOM is a great kick.

But it does fall away rapidly after Young.

There is definitely a few people in this board who have their superannuation profile set to Cash Investments only!

Got to bank that safe 3-4% ROA and take no risks lol
is it even a risk in anyway to bring in these proven elite talents exactly where we need them and in the exact age profile we need as well? this is the surest way to improve our chances at a flag we will ever get

how ****ing good is that were in the hunt for elite players like bolton and warner to add to a pretty stacked list as is? for the cost of schultz? yes ****ing please, the future is bright campaigners

This is another reason I want to hit the draft.

I think we could bring in 3 or 4 good kicks of the ball this year, rather than bring in bolton.

FYI - I don't think so Bolton is an elite kick of the ball either, so won't help us in this area.

Goin to the draft with all three picks might make us a better team in 2029/2030 but it greatly reduces our chances of winning a flag in 25/26/27 IMO. I WANT A FLAG not to get younger and be fine for a decade.

Not sure you have ever watched Bolton play. It's honestly the only explanation as to your rating of his overall game.

Richmond hold our second and third round picks ?
Currently pick 30 and 48.

Jesus. Practically going to get young talent off Shai Bolton along with Pick 1, 21, 30.
That’s a decent hand straight off coming last

Baker is an excellent kick. Elite decision maker and excellent at moving the ball on quickly with his 25-40m passes.

Yet some don’t want him.

Elite kicks in the draft are hard to find and transfer to AFL level.

You need elite decision makers.

Anyway, I think you’ve made your stance known.

I strongly disagree and would welcome Bolton and Baker with our current group over 3-4 lucky dips.

The draft is super important, but comes a time when you need to stop developing and start strengthening.

We don’t need to develop further IMO. We need to strengthen.

We still have plenty on the sheds to develop anyway.

If Isiah Winder was playing as well for Peel, as he is for his current WAFL side we would be all asking for him to come in.

Why shouldn't we be looking at him. Pretty sure he is available as a DFA.
Winder has spoken to a few clubs but they have not told indicated if they will pick him or not. He may also not need his pre-planned surgery which is a positive sign for recruiters.

Yep. I’m not getting it either. I think he views him simply as a seagull. Liam Ryan type. He’s miles off being that sort of player.

You’d have to seriously just be a hater to think his 4 goal performance against us wasn’t impressive.

Even on the weekend Shai smothered a ball, pounced on it, ran away from the defender and kicked a goal high over another defender.

When’s the last time we had a forward do anything g remotely like that?

are you saying Bolton is an elite kick to a player on a lead?

He is as good as Mundy or Walters or Young?

Just in general, every post you seem to say Bolton is poor or average at X. Plenty of posters have given data and stats to suggest that he's up there with the absolute ELITE small forwards but you haven't once said a positive thing about him. It's just weird. We aren't getting Bolton to exclusively kick inside 50 (he will be handy at that), we are getting him to kick goals given our smalls at the moment seem incapable of doing so. This in turn will give us the very best shot at a flag, going to the draft just makes the team younger and pushes the timeline out even further.

All I said was he is not an elite kick of the ball to a leading target.

Agree with Baker, I have seen him do some elite kicks.

The more I think about it, I think it's actually incredible we've had the scoring power we've had the back half of the season. Like, I watched Kozzie break a tackle on the 50 earlier in the year and jam it on his boot of one step for a goal. It was a good goal but nothing special but I was like, man, we have NO ONE who could do even that in the forward 50.

Our goals are all from marks and transition with basically nothing from stoppage. It will be unreal to watch Bolton do his thing up there
