I don't think so. he has been stuck in the forward pocket this year, and is not contributing as much to the team as normal.

Plus he is not known for his tackling.

Bolton is absolutely a dynamite forward pocket if played there. The fact he is an elite centre square player is a bonus, it doesn't detract from his forward ability. Pretty pointless using his output this year in a wooden spoon side while he has checked out and the coach has been using him as a pseudo KPF target (not a proper small forward role).

And tackling doesn't define forward pockets. While it's nice to have a Ballantyne type, it's not common. Papley, Cameron, Stengle, Hill are in the same realm as Bolton with a lack of tackling. It's not their main game. They are primarily there to kick goals.

And pressure is more nuanced than tackling and chasing. Having an opponent that is shit scared to leave your side helps. And natural crumbers can get to the fall of the ball and get a possession or stoppage.

Wby are people still talking in terms of"If we get Pickett"?.
Be has said he is not leaving the Dees.

He hasn't said anything. He expressed homesickness and reached out to freo. Melbourne have shut it down, but trade period is still a month away

It's unlikely, but the conversation isn't over

If we offer Banfield how can they possibly say no? You don't often get the chance to trade for a generational talent like our Bailey.

You need to have a nice mix in the forward half of Goal scoring talls, Goal scorings smalls, Mids and pressure forwards.

We need more of the Goal scoring smalls

Players walking out on contracts they signed just the year before isn't the most common thing to be done. It needs some cataclysmic event in the interim really.

I feel like Melbourne over the last few weeks sort of has been a cataclysmic event.

How far away is Cooper Simpson to making it at AFL level? He looked the goods when given a chance, plenty of foot smarts. But seems to be struggling to find the pill at Peel.
Will a preseason do the job, or will he need a couple of preseasons.

Our existing forwards need to be told and coached to put more pressure on the opposition when the ball is in our forward line. It's not only tackling but all the other stuff like chasing and staying involved while the ball is in the vicinity.
Treacy does it well and Switta also. Most of the others just stand and watch as the opposition waltz the ball out.
JLo needs to harness all these little one percenters to improve the team going forward. This should happen regardless of who we bring in.

So many moving parts, and so many ways we can close the gap.

Switta is often the first one pushed out on here, but his defensive pressure is pretty good. Emmett as well, and his game is built around defensive pressure.

Sturts pressure is good enough to keep his spot. Maybe Frederick is in trouble?
Frederick is best 22 but pretty regularly in our bottom 5, IMO. He's got some amazing attributes including his speed and full reach overhead marking but he's hot and cold and would be out before Sturt if I was on match committee.
Having said that, two quality small forwards would probably put him at risk of being dropped to the seconds. Emmett on the other hand would be at a far greater risk of being delisted completely.

Agree, I just wonder if we get to the point that we need forward pressure so badly, that Emmett plays instead of Frederick.

As others have said, the ideal person is someone who score goals and provide pressure, but we don't have that player.

I was trying to stay away but I just heard from an old Freo head that we have substantially cooled on Kosi, only so much fat left in the cap.
We don't know if this is true or not but how can we be close to the cap. Cap increase coming along and multiple delisitings/retiring to occur. Also if we are not paying Richmond to take on Shai's salary they should be sacked.
