There are numbers players just cannot refuse
6 years $8 million dollars is a lot of money that players cannot just pass up and not many clubs can give
North can - Easily
l dont want to see us spending excessive amounts until we have signed LDU...So we might have to hold our spending until the end of next season...

You are ignoring what GC sold 500k cap space for to the cats

Rioli is a contracted player they have chased all year , Saad went for similar uncontracted and was not as good at the time and had walked out of the club. This is GC they will pay

Thought they were ok for cap these days... and getting Lukos millions off their books too

You must have genuine rocks in your head if you literally could go to any club in Victoria and you chose Melbourne. I’d genuinely be wary of the set up they are running atm, something is seriously wrong there.

How could he go anywhere? Other teams have to show interest? I have only ever seen Mel mentioned when talking interest

Sorry i didnt want to bring this up but didnt north have psd pick #1 during the CCj trade

It wont happen
There is a stigma about walking yourself to the PSD which is on top of defecting to another club when you are a wanted player. You have to be mighty pissed off with your current club and everyone in it to deny them trade compensation. But from an outsider's perspective, it seems a bit shortsighted as your allegiances need to be with your new club and ensuring that they maximise improvements to their list out of the move. You should be looking at it as a zero-sum game and not a win-win where each side ends up no better and no worse off.

I remember when Chris Judd was weighing up his decision to leave West Coast, and he concerned himself over which Victorian club had the draft and trade capital to fairly compensate West Coast. That seemed dumb to me at the time because West Coast was never going to thank him, his former teammates were going to rough him up, and the supporters were always going to boo him.

But as you say, Baker won't use the PSD to get to West Coast. It's just not done.

He won't but it was more mentioned that it's an option should Rich take the pi&s and ask for a top 10 pick for him too!
