Go buy a decent set of rabbit ears antennas from JB-Hi Fi or Good Guys or Kmart for $30 to $50 and plug it in to your TV.

Can use it this year, next year, the year after, year after that etc.

No, I cannot understand that at all. There's a block of units being built next to my place and as soon as they'd got the roof on it was festooned with TV antennas, even though the rest of it is still an empty shell.

I wouldn't be relying on streaming. Kayo has taken years to improve, but I'm assuming 7 has put the bare minimum into it, so it'll probably struggle today.
