We literally were the only team offering anything.

We put our future first on the table, Carlton couldn't match the value and pulled out. Pies threw everything in when Port countered us with Pick 2 and a future second. Also, my source told me Carlton were out before the media confirmed it.

We were a genuine chance but it would've been an extremely foolish move.

I don't share anything on here unless it comes from someone legitimate.

Was a cheeky jab but appreciate the response ;)

Weren't you the one that said Caleb was a lock? (can't remember)

We are a joke to the rest of the comp and I would be questioning your source TBH. Idk your track record but I'd only trust a few on here

We're stuck in a ****ing active volcano and we're laughing at the tourists above who've accidentally dropped their cameras and binoculars into it. Don't know how some of you campaigners find it in you to rejoice at others' shit trades at this point. Are you all numb to the pain or something?

No. Enjoying the schadenfreude.

I was numb, and then the idea came into play that the club's future could actually be in jeopardy, and now all numbness is replaced by angsty anticipation and a worry probably deeper than most living fans of AFL clubs have experienced
I'm certainly worried too. I cannot think of a viable option for replacing the Tassie investment. If we were to post an annual loss after the Tassie investment disappears, I would be gravely concerned.

I said it was very likely we would get Houston. This was after I was told Carlton were out of the race. It then changed when Port wouldn't accept our F1 and countered with a ridiculous offer.

Not sure who said Caleb was a lock, Roo Beauty?

Anyway, no worries! Silly season is always silly!

Fisher, McKercher, Sheezel, Goater, Bergman, Hardeman can all play that role, with greater emphasis on the latter 3 as they seem to be earmarked for longer term roles in the back half. We also had Powell there at times this season too.

Now yes aside from Sheezel Houston is currently an upgrade on all of them, but Goater/Bergman/Hardeman have played a combined 30 odd games between them, I suspect Powell won't end up a full time centre-square midfielder long term either judging by how much his mid time fluctuates, we have seen what McKercher can do with his run and carry from the back half, and I need not explain re. Sheez and his versatility.

If in 2/3 years Goater, Bergman & Hardeman are clearly not up to it then fine we should be prepared to pay up for quality, but at the moment do we really need 8 potential distributors on our list considering the gaping holes we have in other areas? Especially factoring in the cost.

I don't necessarily think overpaying for Houston was the right move, but we're talking about probably the best player in his role in the comp, and it's a vital role in modern footy. If someone like that becomes available at any stage of development, you look into it.

If in 2/3 years none of those guys are up to it then we're probably looking at eight consecutive years of bottom finishes.

Well Port just accepted a worse offer from pies though. Makes no sense, but to know he was never actually ever coming

But of course we were keen

**** port anyways, sucked in
