Mick Barlow is a 20-year-old from Shep United. He was widely tipped to win the league's best and fairest this year but finished fifth. Gun onballer, who is in the pavlich mould. Could be worth a punt

Carter to skip bombers
Wednesday, 2 April 2003
Bendigo Advertiser
NICK Carter will lead the newly-formed Bendigo Bombers in their debut VFL season.
Carter was last night appointed captain of the Bombers at the club's season launch, while forward Mark Brown was...
Re: Kyabram District FL
Your more than welcome to do what ever you like, but if I had the choice between Trist and Kelly, I'd choose the former. I'm not having a go at Jim, just stating my opinion. All the best with Tonny's recruiting :thumbsu:
Re: Kyabram District FL
Trist would be a better ruckman than Jim Kelly, a better defender than Tim O'Keffe, who basically played as a back pocket in the GF, and could have eaily played the lead up role that Evan Murray did against the Swans, despite his bullants pedigree. I'm sure I could have...
Re: Kyabram District FL
Your entitled to your opinion Hank, but I think you'd be turning to Plan B pretty early on in the game if you were to start Kyle on Hoot. Your right, you don't need to be able to kick to play a taggers role, but I think Hoot's footy smarts would crucify him.
Re: Kyabram District FL
You were winning me over with your arguement of Tonny v Stanhope players Hank, until you mentioned Kyle. There's no way he would be able to shut down Hoot, unless you were giving him 40 creds head start. As for the Stanhope side of things, Trist would be a regular member...
Re: Kyabram District FL
Without writing an essay, I'd say there's more than 3 or 4 from Stanhope who could play in the GVFL pretty comfortably.
Jarrod Mason, Matt Trist, Dave Hansford, Nick Gibbs, Brenton Gray, Chris Sanders and Marcus Emmett would all have no troubles.
Hoota's obviously...
Re: Official GVFL thread
I don't think there's any doubt that Bullen put himself up for auction when he returned from S.A, which was fair enough because his only income was going to be from footy
Re: Kyabram District FL
I'm not sure about the latter, but I'm assuming you mean Shane "The Ox" Hughan when it comes to the former. The Ox plays for Mooroopna (Goulburn Valley Football League) and had a very good year by all reports. While he's not a gun, he's played 100+ games in the GVFL...
Can any of the Dingley supporters tell me if Jay Walsh has resumed playing or if he will this year? Super player, who could add a lot to the Dingoes' midfield if fit.
Re: Official GVFL thread
Charlie's been playing with the Bendigo Bombers in the VFL. I'm pretty sure the whole comp had a bye at the weekend, so he came back to play with the Swans.
Re: Kyabram District FL
I don't think anyone has ever questioned DT's playing ability, just his loyalty to football clubs. He's been at Murch, Rumba, Echuca United, Berrigan and Ardmona within the space of 18 months.
Re: Kyabram District FL
I'd have to agree with you there Bluey, I think the KDFL gets unfairly run down about its standard on occasions. Off hand I'd say that there are at least 20-30. You only have to look at a few of the guys who have left recently which have played good footy at a higher...
Re: Kyabram District FL
Fair enough Tav, I take onboard your comments regarding Bodz as I haven't seen him play this year and was referring to his abilities last year. As for Stevey Rass, I saw him play against both sides last year and I think you may be stretching the truth. He certainly...
Re: Murray Football League
Either/Or Willow. I'm just interested to hear peoples opinion. For example, you may call yourself a hardman and I may call you a thug, there can be different interpretations. Not that I'm saying your a thug. But I'm just interested to hear some thoughts on the topic
Thanks for that subs, I haven't seen the Dingoes play for a few years now but it looks like there is a lot of home grown talent amongst that list. Feehan, English, Debolfo, Frost, Lavars would all be locals under 21.
Re: Kyabram District FL
There's some interesting players making their way on to the lists. Hooda would have to be the benchmark with Lowe, Best and Walker not far behind him. While Stevey Rass used to be a gun, I haven't seen him play a brilliant game against a top side in the last...
Re: Murray Football League
After speaking to a few people around the traps, I'm interested to learn who BF followers think is the biggest hardman/thug in the comp? Anyone willing to put up some nominations...
No doubt you are very disappointed their House, but don't get carried away with division two SFL. I don't want to run down any leagues, but SFL div two is barely playing for sheep stations. Having said that, I agree with your comments that your side deserve better, especially for those who gave...
Re: Kyabram District FL
With the season well and truly under way, just wondering who people thought were the top five players in the competition this year?
It's an interesting topic, but I'd say Stanhope captain Brenton Gray is still the benchmark. Thoughts?
