Slightly unlucky as well, started ok but lost confidence after the first goal went in and it was all downhill from there. Still hard to see them staying up.
I know its early but it's a bit slight concern seeing the lack of moves/Victory links to out of contract players while City/Macarthur are chasing young talent.
Appreciate there's the wage cut overhang, but shades of last season where we left all our business late.
Not that concerned by the decision to retain Burgoyne, but the focus will be on other players in the periphery.
In particular I suspect the decisions on players like Stratton, Henderson, Puopolo will be the better indicator of the way the club will go.
Picked this up for the first time in a long time and have to say I'm really enjoying it.
Has anyone found a workaround for drafting? I'm finding the player pool clogged with 20+ year old list rejects which makes it a painful process.
Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone happens to have footage of the 08 grand final. Pretty sure that the game used to be uploaded to youtube, but I can't seem to track it down anymore.
Cheers,
Look at his recent record. His sides burn out consistently with club football. He might get half or even the majority of a season with strong results, but he plays at such a high tempo that no team can sustain it over an extended period of time. Marseille's season was the exact example of this...
From BvM's comments we'll be looking to snag a goal on the counter. I suspect he'll also look to use the width of Leckie/Kruse/Behich/Risdon given the way we set up in friendlies.
Most clubs in the Championship are loss-making and rely on their owners to absorb them in order to compete. Says a lot about how the league operates. Parachute payments have also distorted things.
Biggest question for me remains where the goals come from for the Socceroos. Struggled to score from open play during qualifying, can't see that changing with the current squad.
Most of the push is coming from a perception that the current league is stagnant - people see new teams as a way to rejuvenate that. Rightly or wrongly people want more from the A-league, and over the years we've seen both ends of spectrum (WSW & Gold Coast).
Juric was probably better suited to the style that BWM wanted to play - we'll get a much clearer view around it when the final squad of 23 is announced.
