definitely feeling it's France's time. Even little similarities to 98 where they were grouped with Denmark, England were grouped with Tunisia, the Italian's going through a playoff that time around { their last since this time } Morocco making their first world cup since then also. Germany also met Mexico at that world cup although it was in the 2nd round, there's also a pretty good chance the French will play Croatia again like they did in 98. In 98 they won on the back of a good euro showing where they made the semi finals and lost to dark horse Czech Republic. I think 20 years after they triumphed Deschamps will win it as captain and now coach.

Umtiti is a gem for Les Bleus and also Lemar. Lemar could also easily emerge as best young player of the tournament. France are star studded and like many I believe they will go all the way. 98 and 2006 when the world cup was played in europe they won it and lost the final via a penalty shootout. The stars are aligning for the French.

I don't have faith in Belgium and never have. That being said Spain and Portugal were serial chokers and proved people wrong. On them though, they actually went far in tournaments first. Belgium haven't had a deep run since 86. In the world cup that is. Last euro the QF achievement was the furthest they've progressed since. So that's actually something to build from.

Don't doubt yourself WR, if we're going off warm up matches then we're going to win the world cup, and Austria will win the Euro-World cup double in 2020-2022.

I think if Belgium don't beat them in the quarters which I'm starting to think is possible, then the French will serve it up to them like they have in their world cup history.

If I remember correctly they weren’t too crash hot before 1998 either, and even in the early games were a little sluggish. Warmed up as the tournament progressed, I’d expect the same here.

Obviously I don’t put a lot of meaning on friendly results (Germany often play shit in them) but with France you just never know what to expect. On paper they have to be one of the favourites, but often they implode at tournaments. They didn’t win a game in 2002 even though they went in as champions for example. I’ll still stick with them but I’m really not convinced.
