A pretty good wrap for Tommy being rated by all the AFL players as the third most likely player to have a breakout year and become a "star"
His disposal efficiency is such because he handballs to players in in worse positions and puts them under pressure. There are many positives and negatives to dawson, (dont get me wrong, i like him as well) but i believe we are better off with him not in the team in the long run. Our best and...
Because he has a been a solid player in the past but he is now 29 and turning 30 before the season starts and I think a fit Alex Pearce will overtake him this year. Dawson will obviously be there in R1 but I just think that come seasons end AP could easily overtake him (I hope he does)
Three goals is actually a highish output against our defence and in the modern game. What i'm saying is that although Dawson is a serviceable lock down defender, i think that his almost negative impact on our attacking side outweighs his defensive abilities.
Fair point but yeah, it would be something id like to ask him because our ugly/not so attacking football is the major question mark that all the experts ask about our football side. So maybe not having a player who literally refuses to kick the ball and handball to players who are in far worse...
How is my question irrelevant? I simply asked why he thinks we need ugly footballers as its something i disagree with and would like to know his reasoning. Isn't this forum about people throwing out opinions about freo and then others can discuss and debate these ideas in an orderly way and then...
Why do you feel we need that? We have a plethora of players who are hard players which has lead to us being widely renowned as a tough team who grinds out wins, but we are criticised for our lack of attacking play which some pundits label as "ugly but effective football". I therefore can't agree...
How are they selective stats? As a lockdown defender his primary role is to stop his opponent from kicking goals and also, to a lesser extent, restrict the amount of disposals they have.
To say the derby would have been a different story if Dawson was there is a bit far fetched IMHO - it's a...
He actually has lost a lot of his lock down abilities. In his 5 games this year hes had Roughead get 22 touches and 2 goals on him in the PF, Tippett kicked 3 goals in a very low scoring game in the QF, Jarred Waite kicked 3 in rd 21, Jeremy Cameron had 5 shots on goal for 2.3 with a busted face...
Sorry, but kicking the ball 60 metres blindly is not how you are going to win a flag. The way the hawks play (the way everyone is trying to base their game plan on) is by using precise foot skills, they would never want those big blind bombs that Pearce does as it allows the opposition to...
Im not calling him a fool because i dont agree with him. Calling him a fool because of his rationale saying that someone has the best kick in our team because they get the most inside 50s... pretty clear difference there champ
Like others have said, its about the quality of those entries. What is the point of having a pile of inside 50's but those entries are woeful kicks that either go to a 50/50 big pack, float out of bounds or go straight to the opposition - that is exactly what Pearce inside 50s are like.
To say...
I have to strongly disagree with you/find it hard to believe some of those observations and I'm not trying to be a prick to you.
Danyle Pearce's kick can't possibly go from how bad it was last year to now be top 3. He kicks a flowerbag every third kick.
Suban's kick, IMHO, is extremely over...
Mate, I have to agree with everything you say there. Myself and mightydockers attended together for our first session of the year and we were slightly worried by the skills of the players. A few things we noticed:
Stephen Hill: starting off the HBF in match sims and we heard a lot of the...
For those who don't realise how big this is for us. Cam had kicked 29 goals from his first 12 games this year but then slowed down to finish with 35 goals from 20 games. For a second year key forward to be doing that is something special
