This is pretty much what Giants fans think, Treloar seems like a guy who loves the club and wants to build, Shiel is probably on his way out
Also, for what it's worth - it would take a reasonably high end player to get Treloar from us. I wouldn't compare it to your unfortunate Beams deal last...
Thought I'd pop in here to go see what the consensus was from your mob on Treloar.
The reality of our situation is that we would have to lose one of Treloar/Shiel/Coniglio, but Treloar would sting the most, he's an absolute gun and in my mind is already a Top 20-25 mid at 21, and should only...
Agreed, it's horrible that a young kid can come in and screw over the team who picked him just because they want to go elsewhere.
If the AFL wants the game to grow, they should do something about this kind of nonsense.
We really got a good deal out of this compared to what you guys have copped...
Losing Boyd sucks, but having Griffen + 4, 6 and 7 is huge for us. Plus it was awful nice to read this:
“Second, our coach Leon Cameron has consulted the leadership group and they have agreed they want a united and loyal playing group heading into an important season in 2015.
“Third, as a club...
Just about an hour ago I came in and asked what it would take to get it done - you guys said Griff + 6, and in no time, that trade is done.
You guys sure are switched on over here, love it.
Fair point - I would imagine that Corr might be somebody who we could explore trading, especially since picking up Patfull.
She's usually pretty reliable, I am more inclined to believe her than most of the Melbourne journos when it comes to the Sydney clubs.
Maybe Sumner? We just lost Whiley, O'Rourke and Whiley who were the players that we ear-marked as players who were on their way out.
I would've said Giles, but he has named Essendon as his destination so it doesn't look likely
The difference is a year of development and a somewhat known quantity - if we draft McCartin or Wright at 4, they fill in that slot, but as of right now, they aren't in our system and have no AFL experience.
I can understand how Doggies fans think our club has acted poorly with the Griffen...
Cheers for that, I'm all for getting more information, because at the end of the day I just want to see what's best for my club...and I'm sure it's the exact same for you guys.
It just isn't feasible to give up 2 key position players in a year when one of our KPF's is already ruled out, it...
Hopefully Kristian and Mark can find time playing Firsts for you guys, they're great guys who I'd love to see succeed, particularly Whiley.
I have a feeling that you guys will grow to love Whiley and the way he goes about his business, it's hard to get a grasp of what kind of player he is when...
Realistically, I couldn't see us giving up Stewart, because he would be almost essential if we were to lose Boyd - especially playing without Patton for this season.
Cheers for the quick responses, was just doing some canvassing and Griffen + 6 seems like what most people are happy with, but the 2nd Round pick will be tough now that we shipped 19 and have tied up our later picks on Academy players.
And yep, I was 100% serious
Without flaming me merely for my club choice, what do you believe is an equitable trade for Tom Boyd?
The only insight I've got is that of the people who choose to hop over to the GWS boards, so I just wanted to see what the general mindset was here and reading through 67 pages is a bit much...
I feel as though they may have been aware of the way people within the team felt about Tom, and also about his desires to head home. From what I understand, he's a good kid - but the warning signs were there from the get-go and the club knew they'd be hard pressed to hang onto him.
The club...
I hate the idea of 4+7 for Griffen, but I'm happy to do it for Beams.
Hypothetical deal done. Both clubs leave happy. Now if only the world worked like that...
With Boyd asking out of the club to join the Dogs, I thought it would be a good time to revisit a Beams trade, even if it's unlikely.
How happy would you be with 4 + 7 (if we get it)? Or is it important to gain a player who can walk right into your best 22 if you lose Beams?
It's tough to deal with and a bitter pill to swallow, but I never deluded myself into believing that Boyd wanted to stay. The warning signs were there and it will be our first significant loss, but we are more than comfortable with out KPF stocks, I'd rather get a stud like Griffen for him than...
Thanks for the responses guys,
If I completely removed the reaction from the players and the potential disharmony it would cause within our club to get rid of Treloar, I could very easily get talked around on a straight swap - but I was genuinely wondering how you guys rated him, as I thought I...
We aren't going to trade him at all, but how do you guys realistically rate Adam Treloar? His name has emerged quite a lot from your fans, with some fans wanting Pick 4 + Treloar for Beams, so I was wondering what exactly you guys thought about him, and how a hypothetical trade would be...
While these rankings are great, I believe they work on a two year rolling total - and don't factor in any time off.
For a lot of our young kids, they've either got hurt or only played half of a season in their first year, so guys like Whitfield and WHE look like "subpar" players when we know...
Does anybody know when our end of season meetings are going to be? Re-signings would be an awesome addition to our awards night.
On topic of the Sheedy Medal - can anybody see somebody other than Ward winning this one? Mumford was huge, but missed too many games, only Treloar would come close.
I agree with you about Scully being down the pecking order in terms of essential renewals, but unfortunately I couldn't see the big money being thrown at him as opposed to others.
While I firmly believe Scully is Best 22, I wouldn't be shattered to see the back of him - and I can't say the same...
I agree with you - while guys like Treloar have passed him, he's still in our Best 22.
When you look at the damage he did against Brisbane just by running and running and running, he's the kind of player who is going to give us a bit of pace to give a bit of variety from our great contested...
I knew there must have been somebody I was forgetting - Bugg goes straight into my 22, I just was looking at other peoples lists.
Bugg was sensational this year as a tagger and will stay on...I'd probably take Plowman out for him
Kennedy, Davis, Buntine
Shaw, Haynes, Hampton
Whitfield, Ward, Scully
WHE, Cameron, Kelly
Palmer, Boyd, Smith
Mumford, Shiel,Treloar
INT: Coniglio, Greene, Plowman, Tomlinson
The midfield is incredibly congested, found it hard to fit everybody in there, so Kelly pushed into the Forward line
Best Performance: Absolutely beating the Swans in Round 1. I think this one becomes a little bit bigger if you know some particularly arrogant Swans fans. I was speaking to some at 3/4 time who still wouldn't give any credit to us, and after the siren - they were full of excuses. That just made...
Yeah, slightly just me worrying. As I said, there's nothing to substantiate my feelings.
Hopefully next season is a great one for Boyd on a personal level, as well as for the club, because his role will be much larger next year with Jon out of the mix. If we start to make a push towards the 8...
I get a sinking feeling that Boyd is as good as gone
There is nothing to substantiate these feelings other than going purely on my gut, but I just don't get the vibe that he loves it up in Sydney. I could be way off, but the fact that he's the #1 pick and hasn't extended yet makes me worry
