Official Club Stuff Official: Tom Boyd officially a Bulldog for Griffen & Pick 6

If no trade is done, and both Griff and Boyd are forced to stay at their respective clubs for one more year, what are the chances that when we play GWS our supporters boo Griff and cheer Boyd, and vice versa? Would be pretty comical.

I'd do it. No hesitation.

Cheers for the quick responses, was just doing some canvassing and Griffen + 6 seems like what most people are happy with, but the 2nd Round pick will be tough now that we shipped 19 and have tied up our later picks on Academy players.

And yep, I was 100% serious

If you guys come on here and respect us and are genuine in wanting input, you will always be welcomed mate. We hate trolls and smart arses but welcome everyone else.

Staggered that some think Griffen alone for Boyd is fair.

Similarly staggered that some thing Griffen + pick 6 is fair. Griff is surely worth more than a 5 pick upgrade!!!

For me, middle ground would probably be:

GWS give: Boyd
WB give: Griffen + pick 25

If that is unpalatable for GWS (which it might be as you may have no use for pick 25), it would need to be something like:

GWS give: Boyd + Stewart + something?
WB give: Griffen + pick 6
i agree this would be fair. but like i said before i dont want to lose Boyd because we quibbled over pick 25 or steak knives. im now firmly in the camp of Boyd for griff and 6. just get it over with so we can all move on

I think boyd will happen tomorrow 6 and griffin then boyd is ours gws will use 4 6 and 7 for saints 1 guarantee they get petrecca we get boyd

Cheers for that, I'm all for getting more information, because at the end of the day I just want to see what's best for my club...and I'm sure it's the exact same for you guys.

Seems to be a problem with your club, you don't want to give away anything. Everybody is 'untouchable'.

It just isn't feasible to give up 2 key position players in a year when one of our KPF's is already ruled out, it would be leaving us rather thin in those stocks before the season even started.

For what it's worth - I don't believe Boyd is untouchable and never have, the same applies for Stewart. But trading both without getting a KPF back that can run into our 22? Not happening.

You'll probably get a KPF in this year's draft, so what's the big deal about losing one from last year's draft? Nowhere near the same impact as losing your captain and best player.

As far as I'm concerned GWS have been completely unreasonable to date on the Boyd/Griffen thing, but if that's the way they want to do it, so be it.

The difference is a year of development and a somewhat known quantity - if we draft McCartin or Wright at 4, they fill in that slot, but as of right now, they aren't in our system and have no AFL experience.

I can understand how Doggies fans think our club has acted poorly with the Griffen stuff, especially because he's your captain, so I agree with you on that point. The fact that this was the tipping point that got your coach shoved out the door makes it even more ridiculous and it has been an ugly situation which was started by us.

But regarding Boyd, it's unfair to say we're acting unreasonable simply because we are trying to get the best possible deal for last years #1 Pick. We shouldn't have to give him up just because he wants to go to you guys, the same way that you shouldn't have to give up Griffen. The difference is that one is an appreciating asset and the other is depreciating, we can afford to wait it out and unfortunately that isn't the case for you.

are there any players that you could throw in in place of a mid 20's pick?

Maybe Sumner? We just lost Whiley, O'Rourke and Whiley who were the players that we ear-marked as players who were on their way out.

I would've said Giles, but he has named Essendon as his destination so it doesn't look likely

Im liking the cut of your Jib and what you say makes sense to me.
For the record I think a deal for Boyd simply wont happen - you guys would look fools going back on what you said now.

General concesus is that most would be happy with griff and 6 for boyd.
But not sure you have said what you think would be a fair trade.
Do you think those terms are fair and if not what would you be wanting ?

Yeah, your club did start it. You approached Griffen and then we hit back and approached Boyd and rather than being reasonable about it, your club is acting like a bunch of spoilt brats.

We'll get Boyd, it's just a matter of when, so you either deal now or he walks at the end of 2015.

Your choice.

Id take corr or Andrew Phillips. But certainly not sumner. I just don't think he's physically capable of playing afl footy and he'd be no chance of a run ahead of guys like dal, hunter, JJ, hrovat, Honeychurch.

Who's Nat Southby? Is she normally reliable. Claiming that the Boyd/Griffen trade might be getting done after all. Change of heart from GWS it seems.
She's usually pretty close to the mark.

Mentioned this Jaksch/Whiley trade a while ago and was shot down - received messages of abuse from Carlton supporters. Now they're saying it's one of the best deals ever. Hysterical.

For me this is the most important reason for us to get it done this year rather than next.

I cannot see how GWS can hold onto Boyd for another year when he wants out.

What do you do with him next year if still at GWS play him in the reserves?

The only reason they would hold onto him is if they think they can get a better deal.

If I was Pickering I would say no trade to Dogs he will go into the PSD.
