The criticism that he goes missing in big game is pretty funny. In 19 finals in his career he's kicked 40 goals (2.1 per game) - better than his home and away average goals per game.
This is a fair comment - but worth remembering the salary cap is 20% higher under this collective bargaining agreement.
More players are going to get over a million, hugh coming in just below that is about right imo.
7 years is a long time but he’s a good player.
Payne gone.
Spewing at the team, we just HAD to go and win against North, the Dees, Suns and Tigers (and drew with the suns) rather than doing the SMART thing and tanking for the #1 pick in the mid-season draft
I've heard that Matho would refuse to come to us if he was picked up in the mid-season draft. He's locked in to being the Barometer for a victorian club.
Absolutely screams of Colin enjoying giving a drop to the media to extract one last payday for Charlie. Which fair enough, it's his job. But look forward to Colin yucking it up with Riley and Cal on a Gettable ep later this year!
I'd be dismissing it out of hand were it not for off-field trip...
I have zero inside info at all but would note that Charlie is a Colin Young client, and same media drops about him being a trade target happened in 2020 about 5-6 weeks before he got his last deal. Off-field stuff is the big question mark, and all I'd say if he's moved on by Brisbane because of...
Saints in 2022. I’d say pies on Easter Thursday goes close, for all that it ended up a blowout and he kept us in it against port in the qualifying final last year.
It’s all moments though. Far too infrequent moments.
Mitch Cleary was pretty emphatic on his podcast that Clug will re-sign in the next few weeks.
Also made the (accurate point) that under the old salary cap numbers, about 60 players were on 800k plus, and that he expects about 60 players to be on a million plus in the next few years with the...
Think we went into this last year when he re-signed with GWS, but not sure his parents are in Qld anymore - wasn't particualrly clear.
Regardless, re-signed last year on a big deal so not realistic imo (and is way better as a third tall back).
I'd bet everything on the name not being Sam Darcy. He's not leaving the dogs - his father is on the board. Max King isn't out of contract soon enough for it to make sense.
Oh I agree, I'm just more thinking that for something to have become a rumour that Dom felt like dropping on the podcast it would have to be something more imminent than waiting a few years for Max King to be available.
