This is going to be a very touchy subject.

There will be a very broad range of opinions about the correct way to handle this.

I'll remind everyone to post respectfully at this time - sniping at each other is not going to help.

Any continued pointless back and forth will get a day or more to cool off. If you want to avoid this fate, let it go.

From Warner’s article today which let’s be honest is spot on given how hypocritical the AFL are on so many fronts but that is absolutely disgraceful and abhorrent if the AFL hung out Fages to dry per the paragraphs in the third column that starts off “In the year of the Voice…..”

I swear anyone who mentions the referendum now has zero idea about referendums in Australia. The voice referendum followed the standard process where an idea starts out with majority support before eventually being defeated due to declining support. Not to mention the lack of bipartisan support, which was another sign it wouldn't be successful.

Pretty accurate article from Mick tho isn't it.
Not sure how Pride Rounds and Welcomes to Country are turning me against people.

I find stuff like that just tends to bring the people out of the woodwork who are already against people.

The whole point of my post was that it seems that Fages had been cleared some time before yet the AFL sat on it; but sure let's do the woke talk again.

How the AFL could hang people out to dry in such a manner is disgraceful, but it isn't the first and won't be the last because certain things must suit their agenda.

Very gutsy of Mick to write that. It's his perspective which is arguable I suppose.

They'll go after him and taint him forever now.
Which in itself is pretty petty by the AFL because let's face it, is there a bigger hypocrtical organisation in existence in Australia particulalry under this administration than ever before.

Mick has been pretty clear about his political leanings for a long, long time and it hasn't affected him. What's going to happen to him - be criticised a bit on social media? Oh no, what a problem for him.

He'll keep his job and keep living his life just fine. There's an entire cottage outrage industry based on being 'anti-woke', he might even do better.

Yep that was what I took out of it as well, the woke stuff is just amusing.

"In the year of the voice they couldn't bring themselves to reveal that not one but two secret reports had cleared former Hawks officials Alastair Clackson, Chris Fagan and Jason Burt of devastating claims of racism."

I reckon they've been going after him for a while now. Probably ever since (before even) he put out the first edition.

How he's been able to survive this long biting the hand that feeds is pretty admirable really. It suggests there are enough people "inside the tent" who hold/share these concerns who are more than happy for Mick to be their mouthpiece and cop the hits on their behalf that inevitably come from head office.

If the AFL put out reports saying "we've cleared these guys", exactly what difference is it going to make?

The people who think it's all horseshit will still think it's all horseshit. The people who think there's something to it are going to think the AFL are just trying to sweep it under the carpet. At best it won't have any impact on the legal action at the time because the court isn't going to give any weight to reports by a party with vested interests, and at worst they could view it as prejudicial.

Mick needs a basic course in critical thinking rather than collecting facts and opinions, conflating them and dribbling out the result.

Well it's big of people to allow him to keep his job and living his life just fine when they'd love him to be doing neither because of his opinion. I've got no idea what his political opinions were . Was it a political piece ? More like social/business commentary

I.E the AFL is fantastic at lecturing everyone as to what they should think but when it comes to doing business they don't practice what they preach.

The people who disagree with Mick are not herald sun subscribers. He's very much preaching to the converted in that forum.

In terms of whether it was a 'political piece' - this is the second and third para:

Predictably, it triggered an investigation (and a one-match suspension) at AFL HQ where the game’s administrators have tied themselves in knots conforming to the era of identity politics, moral grandstanding and radical left ideology.

But recent world events and last year’s failed Voice referendum reflect how a growing majority have had enough of progressive lectures and the rise of divisive social agendas and their endless demands.

Seems like pretty political content!

He can and will write what he likes and he's not going to suffer for it. I'll still keep reading his garbage because he genuinely gets good scoops and reporting on the AFL - but the woke stuff is tired and lazy.

Far worse people who have done actual awful things (rather than just have a dumb opinion in my view) have been able to escape it by crying anti-woke so I just don't buy that "tHeY wILl C0mE aFTEr HIm."

Russell Brand started going anti-woke months before detailed allegations about his awful personal behaviour came out, seems to have worked pretty well for him.

Dlanod if they had 2 reports clearing Fagan and CO. it's downright disgusting that they just sat on it .

I can see you've got an opinion.

I don't share it in totality but you're welcome to air it.

Maybe I live under a rock but I've never seen a footy journo put up anything like what Mick put up .

From some of the posts here this is a regular occurrence ? Who else amongst the footy journos ?
