Congrats on 300 games to Tom. I have always been a big fan of him. He seems like a really good bloke too off the field. A Geelong legend and future AFL Hall of Famer for sure.
Strap yourselves in, it's finals time!
I don't think I've seen a finals series so even in my lifetime. I think we can beat Port this Friday night. The Cat's will learn from the loss against Melbourne, at least I hope so. It's been great reading some of the posts here this year. The love and...
Yeah, he has a lot of improvement to make, I know, but I thought the kid showed flashes of something good at times. Let's give him time to develop before we start potting the poor guy.
Cool, didn't realize next year will be his third. I can always count on someone around here picking these things up. Still, I like the kid and I hope he makes it.
I hope we see more of Buzza (and he doesn't get the 2nd year blues) in 2018. The kid has real potential. I think the team picks itself mostly. Menzel will be interesting as his lack of defensive pressure was an issue despite kicking 30 odd goals. He's really playing for his future next year...
If it's any consolation I think the media output from the club has got worse since you left. It's a shame the old guard of the club can't trust the fans enough to let them be closer. But this is common to all AFL clubs.
Yeah agree. I've been frustrated in recent years by the embarrassing losses in the the finals the teams had. One thing is for sure, it's bloody hard work wining a flag and everything has to go your way like it did with Richmond this year.
I remember when I modded this board I had to ban him more than a few times for some of the stuff he posted. I only did this because he broke the rules (often on purpose), but I always loved his sense of humor, and if I had a favorite on the board, it was him. He knew this too, and always took...
Ablett's shoulder is stuffed, and I don't think hell be as good as he once was.
Fyfe is the most likely for me, because he'll really stick out in the Freo squad this year.
Paddy and Joel will be solid, just as the others mentioned will be.
The biggest problem with the AFL is it's a NFP organisation making millions in profits for who? There's no shareholders or owners. And some clubs become very rich, yet where does the money go? Definitely not invested back into the sport (I'm talking of the profits here, they do invest money...
GWS has to be the team to beat, despite the Bulldogs good finals performances in 2016.
North will drop out, no doubt. WCE were playing well by the end of the season last year, so I can see them going up.
The interesting clubs will be the Hawks and the Cats. Both squads have lost a lot of...
We had some shockers last year really. Losses to bottom teams where the mental application wasn't there for some reason. I'll never forget that awful game against Richmond where it took Paddy to win it for us in the last quarter IIRC. I think we do have a good team overall, and I hope this...
He won't be the main forward at the Dog's, so that might free things up for him, a bit. But he also may play every game in the VFL. It'll be interesting to see if he can do a Barry Hall at the dogs. Time will tell.
Thanks David, looks like my one post caused a bit of a furor. That's why I don't post anymore, and I don't use an alias either, which some people seem to think. Have a great 2017, to all my old Geelong friends.
And, if I gave anyone a card 5 years ago, don't you think it's time you got over it?
I can only hope we don't repeat 2016 where our midfield was Paddy & Joel or nothing. A few guys need to step up this year and play better, not fold like a deck of cards when decent pressure is applied.
You could've knocked me over with a feather when I saw this. It's nice to be remembered, robocop tantrums aside. I do take a look at the board now and then and read what people are posting. Not having been a contributor on BF for quite a while, it's hard for me to give feedback on the...
Many people didn't like it, you should try reading a few reviews other than your own. But in the end it's all subjective isn't it? We can't all like the same things, so why don't you respect my right to like or dislike whatever I want, as I respect yours.
Overall I'm happy with the winners. Great for our Cate to get an Oscar, she was brilliant in Blue Jasmine.
McConaughey has had a terrific year with Mud, Dallas Buyers Club & True Detective so he deserves an Oscar too. It was great Leto got the best supporting actor role too.
I always thought...
These sort of positions are all about politics, not qualifications. Whose going to be favoured by the Commission members/Club presidents. McLachlan has to be the front runner for sure. I think Cook would do a great job too, but I'm not sure if he wants the job, or if he has enough of the...
I liked how the two guys from the Brains team got so blindsided. The look on that second guys face when he was voted out was classic. I disagreed with the women complaining that an open forum wasn't playing the game. The guy who pushed that was playing the game, the game of saving his own neck...
weren't there a couple who got away from him who pretty much identified him despite the cops not picking it up straight away. Milat is guilty, and a nutbag.
I, Frankenstein - A strange movie involving an intelligent smaller Frankenstein (not the hulking one of past movies) helping gargoyles fight demons. The CGI in parts is as good as it gets, and the fact they shot it in Melbourne is cool with a few noticeable landmarks. But overall the story is...
