Mostly, I never have an issue with other club posters.
If someone is trolling I don't respond to the comment, I just report it as a troll.

Too many can bite and give them oxygen.

The off topics are not that bad to be honest. I like left of field thinking as long as it doesn't go for 3 pages.
CE suggested that I block a couple and to be honest, that has fixed 98% of off topic posts for me.

As a whole, the forum is fine.
I reckon the way the preview thread, team sheet being separate, game day thread, and autopsy has worked bloody well.
Some genius came up with that. :)

There are guys on here like Bobby that add different skills to the forum. i.e. putting together vids of players games etc.
Certainly never under appreciated.

What I'd like to see is a quiz master.
One poster who possibly creates a new account, and only posts in a quiz thread once a week.

Survey monkey is the site right?
It would be pretty cool to come here on a Wednesday and answer a quiz that related to the up coming opponent.

Also liking how people are using the scratching post a bit to discuss music and stuff.

*oh and one final thing.
I suggested to SJ ages ago that it might be smart to leave deleted posts / banned posters in the thread.
Just simply change the text to "Banned by Mod"

A lot of us don't actually see how much work the mods do. Because the post is removed quickly.

No major complaints from me. My only comment is slightly off topic - would have loved to have had more Big Footy Geelong podcasts to listen to. But I know it needs people with spare time, the know-how, footy knowledge and to be articulate. But the few we did have were great I thought.

The most common topic in this thread seems to the 'free ride' of opposition posters.

The solution is somewhere in between the current situation and other club boards mods, which can be a bit twitchy with the trigger finger so to speak.

Overall I think the mods do a fine job, given the amount of threads and posts that are created on this board throughout a year, so keep up the good work guys:thumbsu:
Be A Mod For The Day perhaps.

huh?o_O

I'm saying they do a great job and maybe their more level headed than other clubs boards:confused:
I was suggesting, somewhat jokingly, that those who think the Mods are lenient could do the job for a day to get a bit of an insight into what they have to do.

I think the Mods are fine with the way they handle opposition supporters but that might be because I've gotten a bit better at filtering as I've gotten older.

I even found those Gold Coast posters who rolled in after they beat us (September looking a bit more sketchy now chaps?) more amusing than annoying.

There was some gold in that thread.

Now that I think about it more, other club mods (whose team lose more often) would have more opposition posters 'lurking' and 'liking' and trolling as seems to be the way for some... maybe this contributes to their worn down patience and lenience.

yeh those GC muppets aren't so chirpy now I'm sure:)

As a newbie I'm enjoying the discussion and overall atmosphere of the board :) I haven't been shouted at or belittled yet which I was a bit wary of before joining. The majority of those who comment frequently (and some less than they should) are very intelligent, open-minded people with a good sense of humour and most importantly love the GFC. I like the variety and diversity of personalities, the enthusiasm and welcoming tone too. This is best evidenced by the fact that opposition posters are very much welcome if they join in in the intelligent discussion of the game. I feel some boards don't even entertain that as an acceptable scenario.

Just one thing most people don't agree with: I don't happen to mind posts going on an OT tangent if the tangent is interesting enough to keep going. Only the mindless or stupid posts that offer nothing really bother me.

Keep up the good work ladies and gentlemen!

Have been reading for many years but only post sporadically - I think that this board is well run and it's thread division in relation to the upcoming match, as others have said, is brilliant.

Above all every poster here is behind the Geelong Cats, and while our opinions may differ, we can share and discuss our great club in an effective manner.

Go Cats

That's true
Sydney Board mods would ban you for saying "I just drunk coca cola"
I've never had an issue with the swans board. Most of those posters are hard core football followers.
You'll get great feedback and conversation unless you are a dick to them.

I get the feeling even if the environment is turning toxic, dazbroncos would still post.

Unlike a frog.
If he is like a frog just don't turn the heat up slowly or we might lose dazbroncos

Mods do a great job, not sure how you manage it, and I really enjoy this forum. Some [very very very few] on here are a bit challenging to deal with or work around from time to time, but MUCH MUCH better than on most other boards. Very happy camper here.

I think we are generally respectful and give and take pretty well. I've had a lot of fun on the Bay with a few other Cats BFers in attacking and defending our club and players. Speaks volumes of the cameraderie.

OTs. Yes I am guilty but my brain jumps like that in real life. Bit like word association. Which reminds me ... nah.

It would be great if you would take a few moments to vote in the poll, but more importantly it would be appreciated if you could post your thoughts about how things are going within the thread.

SJ, I have no idea how you go about it but a few years ago, you guys were able to get Harry Taylor online and we could ask him anything via the BF link, does the Geelong board still have contact with the club to do more of those one-on-one interactions with the players or was it more of a one off kind of thing?
Stuff like that would be awesome like once a year or something.

My only complaint or beef is the non Geelong discussion thread

I often go onto other boards - and look at their non teams discussion- like a good example - a few weeks back on the Richmond board - they were discussing why Geelong had won premierships - was it defence - or attacking play etc - there would have been about 30 posts and it was a really good read- also the Adelaide - non Adelaide is a good read

You go onto Geelongs non discussion - you get - im glad the scums lost - whoever that is - absolute childish rubbish - people just want to read about the game- or players - especially if your in a non football state . Or - the posts are nothing to do with football

The Geelong boards - non Geelong discussion - would rank in the bottom 3 clubs boards in Big Footy - 80% of it is just total childish dribble

Recently I've been participating in the game day thread whilst the game is underway. It's a good facility for channelling the immediate excitement/frustration and camaraderie if you can type fast enough. And your television is right there. And no one else in your lounge room is breathing. Given better health this year I would ordinarily be at the game, but those who are there and take a minute to check in are a great source of information, and are respected for it.

So are the mods who, thankfully, all seem to keep their fingers off the nuke button when tempers /insults/ fly in the heat of the moment.
Crayshee. But all in good fun for (the outlaws) viewing pleasure.

Maybe the mods might be a bit busy at that time?

Bravo mods.

Disagree. Freo, Hawks, Carlton boards are all as bad if not worse than ours. Moreover, the general tone of the thread is pretty upbeat and lighthearted. Not very serious. Seriously, start a thread if you're into opposition tactics etc. would be a great read and I'd love to contribute. :)

The link - i think was under style of play - so they were talking about Richmonds style of play - then one of them mentioned Geelong - and it just took off from there - if you get my drift - but it was a very good discussion

I'm waiting with bated breath for the viewpoint of CF.
You could've knocked me over with a feather when I saw this. It's nice to be remembered, robocop tantrums aside. I do take a look at the board now and then and read what people are posting. Not having been a contributor on BF for quite a while, it's hard for me to give feedback on the moderators performance. But I can tell you from experience it's a tough job sometimes, and I respect how the mods have handled things generally. No board will ever be perfect, no matter how much you try to make it so. Hey, did you see me make "Tweet The Coach" a few weeks ago! Anyway, all the best to everyone and like y'all, I'll be shouting loud for the Cats in 2014.

Peace.

Love it, mods have a thankless task and do it well.

Great source of information and interesting posters.

Several posters have very insightful knowledge which is always eagerly read.

Consumes plenty of my internet time so, keep it up.
