Looking forward to this one!
I havent read passed the first post (its pre-season, I start slowly just like the players!) however does anyone know if this will be live on the AFL app?

So concerning the game, what I'd like to see is no injuries, no injuries and no injuries.
I'd also like to see Danger (should he play) only play about 50% in the midfield and give Menegola and a few young blokes the keys to really drive the development of that group.
I'd also really like to see Taylor play entirely forward, if they are planning on doing it I want to see it done STRAIGHT away and not just as a "break in case we are 6 goals down to Richmond" type of thing. Making the plan/idea is easy, sticking to it is the issue and we need to do it.

I'll add to that bit above:

Narkle and SSimpson only did sprints and run throughs. Wearing normal gear.
House only did laps. Dark blue strip. Ran with Kolo in normal strip.
O'connor did 440s. Dark blue strip.

Other general observations
Esava looks to have lost a lot of bulk. Now a perfect build to step up if he is good enough.
Menzel did everything I saw
Cowan did everything. Looked to be down back (but it was 3/4 ground)
Bews played high - half forward even
Cunico still on the park. did everything
Henry and Guthrie jnr did everything. Guthrie jnr is the colour of the inside of a cucumber and just as cool.
(sorry couldn't help myself!)
Taylor still up forward.
Oh yes and Hayball caught the eye but I have mentioned that already.

It's interesting that the young Guthrie is named. I know he may not play, but I wouldn't have figured he'd be ready even for pre-season selection yet.
Squad of 29. Injuries take a few off plus rotations. I'd suspect most players will get a crack in one of the games especially now that "winning" means absolutely nothing. Not that it used to mean a lot but the new format makes it less relevant again. Our top players are top shelf the young guys need to get a crack to see who could possibly add depth. Sink or swim type of logic.

For those overseas, the Watchafl.com.au site (now powered by Fox Footy) has the game. Ive paid for the year but the preseason is free.

ALso means we get ALL the fox footy shows live IRT and on demand. VERY COOL.

Some of the new guys might play a half to get a taste of the speed and intensity of senior footy.
I'm keen to see how we move the ball out of the backline and who takes the lkickouts (real weakness of ours).

Did Tuohy take the kick ins at Carlton? If he plays on it would be a 70m play. Thurlow was taking them before he did his knee so he would be the default option.

1. Rhys Stanley, 2, Zach Tuohy, 3. Brandan Parfitt, 4. Andrew Mackie, 5. Nakia Cockatoo, 7. Harry Taylor, 9. Zac Smith, 11. Darcy Lang, 12. Wylie Buzza, 13. Tom Lonergan, 15. Matthew Hayball, 18. Josh Cowan, 20. Ryan Gardner, 22. Mitch Duncan, 23. Aaron Black, 24. Jed Bews, 25. Lachie Henderson, 26. Tom Hawkins, 27. Sam Menegola, 29. Cameron Guthrie, 31. Jordan Cunico, 32. Steven Motlop, 35. Patrick Dangerfield, 36. Tom Ruggles, 38. Jack Henry, 39. Zach Guthrie, 40. Jackson Thurlow, 44 Tom Stewart, 46. Mark Blicavs

Its a practice match. So lets start with that. The results means very little. Id rather have no injuries a 3 goal loss than a 10 goal win and 2 limping players.

That said, the bolded are the ones I really want to see.
2 - Zac Tuohy. - Seen the highlights but never really watched him play. This will be my first time. Want to see the run and carry - even if its only in 3rd gear.

3 - Brandan Parfitt. All I want to see is potential. Word of his preseason has been strong. A few moments where you sit there and nod your head knowing you've seen the moments where you knwo the kid can play. The innate tap ons, the body positioning, a deft move...

5 - Nakia Cockatoo -Development, development, development. I want to see it. The potential I want to see in Parfitt I want to see consistently in NC5. His 4rd year, the tank, the understand and feeling of belonging should be natural now. Let the ability flow now without thinking about it.

11 - Darcy Lang - Consistency. Give him more games, get his confidence up and let him play. He's got the tools. Show me.

12 - Wylie Buzza - He was like a baby giraffe last year. All arms and legs. A year into it, Id like to see the basics be natural now. Leading, head over it, kicking style. The fundamentals in check. happy to give him time as long as he's coming along.

15 - Matthew Hayball - A diamond or fools gold? Liked the efforts I saw from a raw last pick last year. What does year 2, better fitness and size bring for him.

20 - Ryan Gardner - The next Domsy. I really liked his VFL last year. Fitter, bigger and more Scarlo. REALLY firm about this one. Happy to wait for the results but I want to see him take something off Gunston, Vickery or Roughy. Just one of two wins in the contest will suffice - and hold his own.

23 - Aaron Black - Much like 2E, seen the highlights and not much else. Show me something.

31 - Jordan Cunico - Like him back when he was in his 1st season in VFL. Long rangy type. Never rushed. Game not too fast for him. Want him thru this one unscathed. Just get him back in his body and confident in it.

38 - Jack Henry - No clue about his pedigree - Gove me something to latch onto.

39 - Zac Guthire - see above.

40 - Jackson Thurlow - Get thru the limited time they give you unscathed and happy with the effort. I know what you can do - you have time to get back to speed.

44 - Tom Stewart - Make my Boris withdrawals subside. Totally unfair request of course - but give me one - just one - moment where you leave you blok anc come over 3rd man to spoil, effect the contest or intercept mark and i'll be fine.

Coaches - A 5 min period where you trial something different. Dont care what it is. Just make it different.
The rest, just dont get hurt.

Makes me feel old to a certain degree Daz..I used to go to school with his father. Very good athlete himself , Id say good genetic stock there...always helps to choose your parents wisely. ;)
To me he looks like a tallish wing HF but we will not really know till he plays.

Can someone please fill me in on the timing situation? Is it 20 minutes plus time on per quarter or shorter than normal for the JLT games?

Always say 8 goals, margin within 8 goals and no injuries and move onto next week.

It's all about round 1.

Yes though the debacle of the screen size on iPads...... Clumsy by the AFL
And that they don't let you watch on any form of pc or laptop... they quote 11 inch screen is the most you're allowed.
EDIT - That means that you can't watch on iPad Pro. How stupid.
