    Alternative coaches

Isn't he at Gold Coast now?? Probably on a hell of a lot of money - they are throwing it around like confetti. I don't understand the reluctance of some people to embrace the option of trying a current assistant coach from a Victorian based team. The Vic teams are in the ascendant and will be...

I heard on Ch7 news that Stewart ended up with a sprained ankle.

    Daniel Motlop

Well even if there is disagreement about Motlop on this board the TV commentators are at least in agreement on him i.e. negative influence on the team through not being a team player, only concerned about himself and should probably be traded northwards.

Preview Match Up Round 10: Port Adelaide Vs Richmond - Saturday 29th of May - 2:40pm SA Time

FFS. The pre-game warm up made it obvious that the conditions were not conducive to "skillful football". They were made for basic football at its most simplest. Probably the same sort of stuff they played at Bucks Flat in 1870!! We were thoroughly outplayed by the bottom placed team. I...

To the 16,694 who showed up today.

Yeah I got there early to see the parade of past premiership players and pennants. Unfortunately for them they experienced the heaviest downpour of the day. It made me realise the covered stands at AAMI are somewhat ineffective as people could not sit in the front third of the members or...

There Are but Four Small Faces

Did you catch two programs dealing with the SFs over the recent summer's non-ratings period? One was on Ch2 and was part of a series of 4 that focused on Brit bands of the 60s - there was the SFs & Hermans Hermits - didn't see the other 2 but I think one was on The Who. Showed a lot of unseen...

    Powertiser

This is all true but unfortunately there is an even harsher and more sobering reality for the PAFC and its supporters. I watched the "Fifth Quarter" on Ch10 and the promo at the end of the program for the AFL and its teams did not include one shot of the PAFC - nothing short of a disgrace.

My Critical analysis of certain players

Re: My Critical anaylis of certain players Yes i noticed this in the Round 1 match. But then I also noticed there was more advertising (i.e. a larger number of advertisers) on the LED signage. My understanding is that the SANFL gets the revenue from all hard-standing signage inside the...

My Critical analysis of certain players

But this year the PAFC is spending more money than ever before on its membership campaign - through the monetary input of Gordon Pickard. Of course the thing is we will have to invest heavily in this area for a number of years in order for it to bear any fruit.

In the tradition of Star Wars, he needs to "surrender to the dark side" (or words to that effect). :)

    2nd sponsor!

Being the President/Chairman of a "struggling" Victorian based club Brayshaw would be acutely aware of the media exposure predicaments faced by cjubs like the PAFC. I read somewhere that Duncanson & Haysman have discussed this matter with Brayshaw as he was more than understanding of our...

It's all becoming too confusing, ridiculous and pointless. Would be better to use total membership revenues as a comparison between clubs.

    Our finest hour?

Off topic I know but thanks for setting me straight.:thumbsu: Can I assume that you are either a military history buff or a big fan of Churchill?

    Our finest hour?

I think it was Churchill who used that phrase to extol the efforts of the RAF during WW2. In a football context Paul Bagshaw said something similar on the victory dais after the 1976 GF. Oh the agony! Funny that, I cringe slightly when I hear those words, "the finest hour" because it reminds...

    No major sponsor yet?

Not quite yet. From what I have read in the papers the beer sponsorship deal between the SANFL (excluding Norwood) and West End is up for renegotiation/renewal at the end of 2010. Norht Adelaide have negotiated a new beer sponsorship deal with Coopers for this year, outside of the SANFL...

Off topic , I know. :D Apparently the whole shebang is up for renewal/renegotiation in 2 years time - well according to the article in todays Advertiser on the position of the AFC regarding any possible move to AO.

They must have started the phone calls well before 4.00pm because an increase of 1600 in 30 minutes would not be possible. Given the good response I wonder if they are considering having another membership drive by 'phone once they have worked their way through the 2009 members who have to...

If you look at the picture gallery on the PAFC website you will notice that the new total is 25,815. Which is about 1k up on the corresponding period in 2009.

    Vodafone and Port

If you go to the PAFC website you will see that Bianco is now a "Premier Partner" sponsor along with Reebok, SGIC, Simply Energy & West End. Previously there were 4 PPs now there are 5. I believe that Vodafone will continue as a "Key Partner" Sponsor. Of course MyATM is now A "Joint Major...

Building a partnership in the northern suburbs

I have read elsewhere that he could be concerned that we may try to muscle-in on the pokies market in the longer-term. But back to the news story...didn't the SANFL directors and the SAFC recommend that we try real hard to broaden our supporter base?? So we have established a strong working...

    Power Insider Night

A few more pieces to the puzzle. Not as many there as the 1st event in 2009 - I would estimate about 200 - but I am lousy at estimating crowds. Haysman said membership is now just over 24K. Stressed how important it is for supporters and members to turn up to matches. To this end the...

NAB Cup: Port Adelaide vs Western Bulldogs

I thought the current AFL policy was for the GF to be played in Melbourne. Admittedly over the years this policy has chopped and changed. Remember back in 2001 the GF was at AAMI and we drew 35K people and were criticised for the small crowd. Then in 2002 we had to play the GF in Melbourne...

Would you believe high contact in the fend/shepherd on Knights (I think) after Trengove disposed of the ball - a mistake by the umpire.

Our momentum is slowing. We have gone from being 10% ahead of the 2009 figures (according to the PAFC) to now being line ball - about 100 under. Hoping for a surge from the automatic renewals.

Mentioned in the Sunday Mail that our membership is now at 17,300 as of 22/1 which is just over 10% up on the 2009 figure for the same time of 15,600. Since the PAFC started releasing the membership figures we have been averaging an increase of about 1500 members a week. It will be very...

    Power and Magpies talks

Agree with point 2 - absolutely no room for sentimentality. Unsure about point 1 - the NAFC are going their hardest to scuttle this merger proposal even to the point of offering themselves as a reserves side for the AFC in a possible merger. It seems to me there is a strong view in some...
