That's a sweet idea. That's why we got four so we (two) can take my bro and/or cousins/friends/anybody every game. Hopefully they don't really check if it's an adult though cos they're kids tickets, the other two.

can anyone tell me if i get a gold membership on gameday do i just go and sit anywhere within the premium, standard and northern grandstand or do i have a specific seat for everygame within these areas of my choice when i sign up?

its just im signing up with a mate but we will be calling to sign up at different times to set it all up and we want to be sitting together everytime we head to hte footy

If we have to choose to reserve a seat, where should i be reserving a seat. i.e. whats the best seat in the house that gold members are eligible for.
thanks for your help.

Yeah you have a set seat mate, just mention to the sales person you want to sit somewhere with your mate and they will help you out!

I love sitting behind the goals :)

Remember there is no allocated seats with Gold in the Northern stand, it's next to the platinum section in the Northern stand.

I wouldn't worry too much about seat allocation anyway. Generally you can find a spot to sit with your mates, especially behind the goals like The Smaller Warrior mentioned. And yes it's the best place to sit :thumbsu:

Yeah, this is generally what I do. Go with some friends, some are signed up as members(Different seats) and some only go to a few games so they just buy a ticket at the gate(Tried to convince them to go for a membership :p).

Bit worried this year though, as bays around where I sit have been covered. If it's a problem i'll be making sure I organise something better next year.

Also, emailed the club asking them to amend my details as they were printed wrong on the card. Emailed back quickly and have sent out an amended membership card even though I didn't ask.

Got a call from Rohdey tonight, i signed my dad up last year for his birthday and got him something different this year... So considering Rohdey called the least i could do was buy the old man a membership this year too haha

If you look at the picture gallery on the PAFC website you will notice that the new total is 25,815. Which is about 1k up on the corresponding period in 2009.

That was also posted at about 4:30pm, half an hour through the membership drive :).

Yeah it would be good if they could call up to thank some early renewing members etc..maybe too much work though.

Hopefully this gives a handy boost!

They must have started the phone calls well before 4.00pm because an increase of 1600 in 30 minutes would not be possible.

Given the good response I wonder if they are considering having another membership drive by 'phone once they have worked their way through the 2009 members who have to date failed to renew? For example, members from previous seasons - 2007 & 2008 - who have not renewed. :thumbsu:

The calls started before 4.00pm as my friend got his about 3.30pm. And the figure you saw I think you will find was before the membership outbound calling program.

As to who they were targeting, my understanding was that they were starting with the 2009 lapsed members & then getting onto the 2008 & 2007. It makes good sense to try and get to all of them if they can.

Let's not forget, 25k membership in Melb is actually a good figure, so it isn't that poor. It's obviously a poor stadium deal and the fact we don't get another teams supporter base each week.

What I find interesting is alot of Vic team supporters don't want to watch games involving us, I can only think because we have won a fair amount of games, otherwise I don't get it.

I have a theory on this. It's not that Vic supporters don't like watching us, it's just that unless your a hardcore go every week type of supporter, going to a Port game is less desirable for one main reason - you don't have any mates that support Port. The casual supporter will pick and choose his matches, and lets say a Carlton supporter has a couple of mates that go for Richmond, they are more likely to go as a group to that game. The casual supporter, having no mates that they can rib or get into each other leading up to the game, actually go the game and then have beers and claim superiority after the game, will be far less likely to have the tendancy to get exited about going to the game.

Back in the SANFL days, I was far more likely to go to Port V Norwood/Bays/Sturt game than I was a Port North/Centrals/South game simply because I had mates who went for Sturt/Norwood/Glenelg. I think this is a very big factor.

Re the membership drive, I was having visions of the “serenity now” episode of Seinfeld where Lloyd Braun is hired by Frank Costanza to sell computers by phone in competition with George. Lloyd cleans up in sales and dings a little bell every time he signs someone up. At the end of the episode it turns out Lloyd is crazy, his phone wasn’t even plug in and he made no sales.

Hopefully we did have a “Lloyd” yesterday?:D

Members is the foundation. Getting people to rock up is the next step. We continue getting 25k MINIMUM to games and crack 30k more than a few times before Round 12, all whilst constantly bringing up the horrid deal the SANFL set up for it's two clubs, comparisons to Geelong's deal and to the Western Australian teams deals and more and more people (Victorians/Australians) are going to take some kind of ear to it all, bad publicity for the SANFL hopefully. It rained down on them hard last year and they bandaged it up with pathetic 'initiatives' like get X amount to games and receive ten bucks extra! Gotta keep pushing forward hard.
