tony caps off his most active year to date and backs up a top 20 beez debut with a very-well deserved Captain's Award. As his teammate and friend, it has been an absolute privilege to watch him evolve from an inactive, mistakenly tagged poster to a quiet expansion rookie with a penchant for Simpsons gifs and to a talented leader , still with that knack for humour and graphics. He puts in a mountain of work around the site and within the club, and does not hesitate to help out in any way he can. Every single one of tonight's graphics were thanks to tony's hard work, and he stepped up at very short notice to help out with extra writeups too. tony is far too modest to take any of the credit he deserves for his many contributions across the board and he is truly an underrated gem of the SFA. It may not be much, but I hope this award hopefully goes some way towards showing just how much I and the rest of the LG appreciate everything you do. Congratulations tony - I can't wait to see what you have in store in coming seasons.

Season 32 Round 16 – West Coast Wonders 9.6 (60) defeated by Las Vegas Bears 13.11 (89) at the Colosseum

Writeup and votes by Broken

Heading in to the last round we were in 9th place and needed results to go our way to make the finals. But the first step was that we needed to win.

After the having the first 3 scoring shots of the first quarter the Wonders got on top and we trailed after the first half. Other results after the 1st quarter had us placed in 11th spot, only percentage away from last.



The Wonders stretched their lead by 7 points to open the 2nd quarter, but then it was all Bears baby. Storming to a 3 point lead at the half. We were back in to 9th place and only percentage outside of the Top 8!



Our momentum kept up as we extended our lead to 25 points before the Wonders scored again. It was to and fro for the rest of the quarter yet we still held a lead of 5 goals.
Scores around the ground were working in our favour : The Royals were leading, but not by enough to surpass us. The Warriors held a narrow lead over the Phoenix, keeping both teams below us.
If the games ended now we'd be in 8th place, looking for a rematch with the Wonders in the elimination final.



The Wonders fought back to open the 4th, but we kept them at arms reach. We were playing distracted, with one eye on the scores around the ground. At the 16 minute mark, the Phoenix had taken the lead and the Gumbies were running away with it. We needed to up the scoring, but could only manage one goal from that point as the Phoenix held their lead.

When all was said and done, we remained in 9th place, missing out of the finals by 3.34%

This count went down to the wire and was decided by the final set of votes received . And before anyone asks/in true Vegas style, I could not have rigged this better if I had tried!
