Back to Back beez winner and all-round club legend JoshWoodenSpoon caps his successful return to the qooty field (after being a hack of a coach and emergency full back) with our Best Defender award. Statistically outstanding based on multiple comparative and raw statistics (and not just because he was our club statistician) , he continued the proud tradition of Las Vegas all-SFA defender representatives through his selection as the non-emergency all-SFA Full Back this season. Offield he may be best known for his humour and SpoonMeasures , but the mountain of work he puts in behind the scenes , particularly when it comes to recruiting , is incredibly underrated. I look forward to seeing what else JWS has in store for us in future seasons. Congratulations Joz!

Season 32 Round 5 – Gumbies FFC 18.9 (117) defeated by Las Vegas Bears 22.6 (138) at The House of Gumby
Writeups and votes by MWPP

In Round 5 we travelled to the House of Gumby to take on the Gumbies. After an understated but quality buildup, we were determined to bounce back after a disappointing round last week and revisit our impressive round 3 form in order to reward club champions Art Vandelay_ and AngryRanga with a win for their milestones. In cloudy conditions that favoured us, we stormed to a 7 goal to 4 first quarter and built on this lead in the second quarter, taking a handy 4 goal lead at half time. The rest of the game was extremely close shootout but in the end , we simply had more composure and class, and were also more accurate in front of the sticks than our gutsy opponents.

AngryRanga (80 DT, 14 handballs) stood up on his special day and absolutely massacred his opponent and former bear Lingua Ignota (also known as AuntyBlindEye / Party Gull ) whilst star full foward Cap (7 goals, 89 points) had an absolute day-out . They both benefited heavily from silver service from talented big man Muddiemoose (13 hitouts, 97 DT, 1 goal) and premiership captain /club champion Matera92 (95 DT, 2 goals, 26 disposals) wound back the clock in a special performance. tony (94 DT, 25 disposals) was just too good for his opponent Riviat all day - providing crucial rebound and moving upfield with dash and composure.

Another Las Vegas Bears legend and overdue new Hall Of Fame inductee kane249 was unable to be with us tonight at short notice but thanks to tony 's sources , we were able to bring you some rare footage from the S22 (premiership year!) BnF

It is fitting that on the 10th anniversary of our inaugural premiership , pantskyle and kane249 join hilly , Dingster and Matera92 as part of this exclusive club

Season 32 Round 6 – Dragons FFC 13.6 (84) defeated by Las Vegas Bears 16.9 (105) at Ljp86's Lair
Writeup and votes by MWPP

Fittingly for a Fantastic Beasts-themed round, the Bears, also known as the Nifflers, took on the Dragons at Ljp86 's Lair. We were determined to continue our winning form from the previous week whilst the Dragons were still licking their wounds after managing to lose from a 20 point three quarter time advantage the previous week. On a warm day and stifling conditions that tested both teams, the game began as a hard-fought scrap but we took a handy 1 goal lead at the first change. It remained close in the second quarter but unfortunately we were inaccurate in front of the goals and ultimately conceded a slim 3 point lead at the main break. They call the third quarter the premiership quarter, and we defied our poor third quarter form prior to this game with a 10 goal to 2 third quarter which sent a message to the competition and gave us a whopping 7 goal lead at the final change. We were tired in the last quarter in energy-sapping conditions but held on to seal a crucial 21 point win and notch our fourth win in a row.

Captain MWPP (83 DT, 3 goals from CHF) gave her opponent an absolute bath whilst fellow senior Bear Millky95 (97 DT, 1 goal, 25 disposals) was outstanding in the guts. They were the main beneficaries of silver service from champion ruckman Muddiemoose (10 hitouts, 81 DT, 1 goal) . The evergreen RookiePick (79 DT, 23 disposals) wound back the clock to have an enormous impact when the game was on the line and brilliant veteran Broken (73 DT, 1 goal, 19 disposals, 4 tackles) lead from the front all game and lifted when it counted most.

Season 32 Round 7 – Las Vegas Bears 14.5 (89) defeated Sin City Swamprats 6.13 (49) at The Stadium In The Sky
Writeup and votes by tony

On a cold and rainy afternoon, the Swamprats came upstairs to play their Sin City Rivals.

Its was a close game in the first quarter with the Bears taking a 1 goal lead into quarter time. It was in the 2nd quarter where the Bears kicked away with 4 goals to nil to take a 29 point lead into half time. With 7 goals from 7 different goal scorers the Bears were playing good team qooty and making it difficult for the Swamprats to shut them down.

In the 3rd quarter, the Bears put their foot down on the throat of the Rats and finished them off kickinf another 5 goals to 1 to take a 53 point lead into 3 quarter time. Once again 5 different goalscorers in the quarter just showed the evenness of the performance of the Bears and the rats couldn't stop them.

The Rats managed to win the last quarter but the damage was already done and the Bears won convincingly by 40 points.

Cap ended the game with 3 goals but had plenty of help from his team mates with another 4 multiple goalscorers.

AngryRanga (17 touches), Matera92 (21 touches, 7 marks, 1 goal), MWPP (19 touches, 2 goals) and Muddiemoose (22 touches, 2 Goals) had a day out and feasted on the Rats.

If I haven't got my wires crossed, you actually birthed hilly into the world.

hilly was one of Brokens signings as an original Bear.

I do recall basically begging the Eagles board to get on and I was several posters short very late in the bid.

Season 32 Round 8 – Mt Buller Demons 13.12 (90) defeated Las Vegas Bears 8.10 (58) at the Snow Down
Writeup and votes by tony

On a cold and rainy afternoon, the Bears went to Mt Buller to have some fun in the snow for The Match Of The Round.

The Bears were having too much fun playing in the snow and forgot to turn up for the start of the game. At quarter time the Demons had kicked 5 goals to nil and it only got worse in the 2nd, with the Bears being 39 points down at half time. The 2nd half was a more even affair but the Bears never got close to making a come back and the Demons made it 8 games undefeated to start the season. At least the Bears got to enjoy a day frolicking in the snow.

The Bears only had 3 goalkickers for the day with Cap kicking 4, Campaigner for good kicking 3 and MWPP 1.

With most of the team having a horrible game I Dont Care (18 touches, 5 Marks), Matera92 (17 touches, 4 Marks) and tony (15 touches, 4 Marks) tried their hardest to stem the tide.

Veteran Cap caps off a successful move to Full Forward (and successful return to his username, Cap) after several years as C with the Best Forward and Leading Goalkicker awards. Cap finished with an impressive 49 goals (average of over 3 goals a game) , demonstrating agility, strength and leadership even in conditions that didn't always favour him. Offield, Cap had his most active and engaged season to date and began posting elsewhere around the site too. We wouldn't be where we are today without Cap's energy and input , and I look forward to the pizza costume he has in store for tonight's afterparty as well well as even greater success in future seasons.

Electronic_Renaissance had an outstanding debut season . Showing maturity and versatility well beyond his qooty years, he began on the flank before demonstrating pace and fitness in the midfield /engine room . In the first few rounds, he was a hard-hitting rookie from the bay before switching to a mix of humour, life and culinary habits/choices . Showing versatility reminiscent of some of our previous star rookies and slotting right into the league in a way that rivals many seasoned posters, ER truly is a leader in the making and I have no doubt that this Best Rookie award is the first of greater things to come. Congratulations ER!

When I first poorly designed the Stadium in the Sky I had hoped at some point someone with more talent would take my idea and make it much better. The idea of a zeppelin stadium that could go wherever it wanted in the Sweet FA landscape was genius IMO. And unmatched.

At that point I was thinking about Bioshock.

Would really like to see that explored if it's still used as your home stadium.

Season 32 Round 9 - Las Vegas Bears : 7.6.48 defeated by Coney Island Warriors : 9.11.65 at The Stadium In The Sky
Writeup and votes by JoshWoodenSpoon

Sitting at 4 and 4, the Bears were perfectly poised for their annual mid-season slump. And boy did we deliver! In what was the kind of match you'd request a refund for, we were headed into quarter time with just one goal (coming from Captain MWPP). We then really turned it on with a singular point from Cap in the register for the second quarter. A kane249 goal early in the second half sparked a bit of a run and we actually got within 9 points before capitulating. Millky95 and Electronic_Renaissance tried hard in the middle all day for a while, and AngryRanga provided ample run and expletives off the half back line.

Season 32 Round 11 - Fighting Furies FFC 21.11 (137) defeated Las Vegas Bears 13.8 (86) at the Hippodrome
Writeup by tony, votes by Matera92

On a warm afternoon the Bears travelled to the Hippodrome to take on the Furies.

The 1st quarter was an evenly matched affair with the Bears taking a 2 point lead into the quarter time break. The 2nd quarter again was close and Cap kicked 2 goals back to back to give the Bears the lead late in the quarter. The turning point of the match was in the final minute of the quarter when the Furies kicked 2 goals to go into half time with an 11 point lead and from then on never gave up the lead.

In the 3rd quater Cap tried to keep the Bears in the game with his 4th goal for the game but the Furies kicked 4 goals to 2 to extend their lead.

In the final quarter the Furies kicked another 7 goals to pile on the misery for the Bears, the 51 point would prove costly to the Bears percentage.

With only 2 multiply goalscorers it was a tough day for the Bears.
Cap (5 Goals),I Dont Care (3 Goals), Terrybull (22 Touches, 1 Goal), Millky (22 Touches), Matera (20 Touches), Muddiemoose (17 Hitouts, 19 Touches, 1 Goal) were the best players for the Bears on the day.

That’s actually pretty awesome
I thought it was just a reference to that soccer club that has that Netflix show 😂

I don't even know what you're referencing.

Was very much just an out of the box idea, floating stadium, Vegas strip, night life.

Season 32 Round 12 - Las Vegas Bears FFC 17.8 (122) defeated by Baghdad Bombers 25.8 (158) at the The Stadium In The Sky
Writeup by tony, votes by Matera92

The Bears welcomed the Bombers to Las Vegas for a free flowing and high scoring game.

The 1st quarter had an amazing 15 goals scored between the 2 teams, with the Bears scoring 9 of them with 6 different goal scorers. The Bombers fought back in the 2nd with 7 goals to 4 to cut the margin to 2 points. At half time the scores were 83-81 in the Bears favour.

The 3rd quarter started well for the Bears with TheTick kicking the first 2 goals followed by a goal to Muddiemoose to extend the lead but from that point on, the Bombers dominated the quarter to take the lead late in the quarter.

In the last quarter the Bombers stormed away kicking 7 goals to 2 to win by 36 points.

Matera (25 Touches, 1 Goal), Muddiemoose (19 Hitouts, 24 Touches, 1 Goal), I Dont Care (24 Touches, 3 Goals), Tommycash (20 Touches) battled hard for the Bears.
