Our last back-to-back flags was 1935/36 when we defeated South Melbourne (now Sydney) twice and in October as well
Drama before the 1935 Grand Final - Bob Pratt hit by a truck and couldn't play because of leg injuries he suffered.

South had beaten us in the 2nd semi when Pratt kicked 6 goals.

The only thing it doesn't match the above text, not sure why they can't use the same.

It’s better that it’s different.

A tonne of hard work and some cracking games of football were done between when the top text and bottom text was made.

Took a deep breath and watched the replay yesterday, whole game, first time since GF weekend. Started off feeling anxious but gradually relaxed into it.

Geez it was a good game. So many who contributed, so much tension, so many outstanding individual efforts yet a whole of game cumulative effort. We just simply never gave up. I know we talk about culture, but our club has real character. Our brand is to find a way.

I didnt think I could love Markov more - but I do! And a year ago I didnt even know who he was.

I think Maynard recently said that it was the hardest game he'd ever played in - and it looked like it.

I also watched some pre-game and post-game coverage.

Do yourselves a favour and watch the immediate post-game show on 7+ - its only available for another week or so. Has footage and interviews (including in the rooms afterwards) that I hadn't seen before, which in itself is surprising given the tsunami of footage which has followed the win.

Now that I've, um, caught up with more of the game, I'm astounded at the different ways that Cameron celebrated his goal in the last that put Brisbane in front, compared to what JDG did seconds later after his goal that wrested our lead back (with help from Cox, Pendles and Naicos). Restraint and moderation are not normally nouns associated with Jordy, but he was remarkably cool after the goal, and went straight back into focus and concentration. In the heat, under pressure, and fatigued. Extraordinary.

Yes I've thought about that a lot. Cameron's was the first goal of the quarter and his carry-on was a complete contrast to Jordy.

So that round 23 game at marvel was one of the worst experiences I ever had at the footy.

Was sitting in an area full of lions fans, the things they were yelling all game were disgusting and I have been attending Collingwood vs Carlton games for years and never heard the stuff they were saying. Hoping Murphy would get injured all game (who knows why) then he gets injured and all cheer saying deserved etc

Any pies fans seated in the area will know the Grand Final was a major serving of justice for those few hundred lions fans

I hope we play them in Melbourne next season and I hope I get seated with the same fans as I will be decked out in some premiership merch

Going back and reading my posts from 2015 on the lions board, one of them said Pendles will be retired by the time De Goey is a gun player. The temptation to give it a like is high. It’s also in a thread about Beams called ‘celebrate like it’s 2003’

It's late and I'm 3/4 pssed and love your post. Just drinking a berry sour beer. I never thought I'd see the day I would drink a sissy (can I say that) beer. But I love it.

Brings back 2010 memories.
I was seated level 1 last row, (will never do that again) and the standing area was full of Saints supporters.
We lost 10.9.69 to 4.17.41, it was a horrible game and the abuse from their supporters was through the roof.
We all know what happened some months later 😀

PS: Reminds me of another time we played them there and Darcy was FF.
The abuse we and he got that day was through the roof too!

It’s nice now to just know and walk around with an inner glow.

Yep I was on LVL 4 for that one, and couldn’t make the return game at the MCG as I had a bucks’ party to attend at Caulfield. I thought we had the better of them at Marvel, but at the MCG we controlled the game. I knew we were a red hot chance after that. :)

It was that win against the Saints at the G when I became extremely confident we would win the flag that year.

Jordy's response to kicking that goal was "job not done yet".
That shows that when he mentioned redemption before the game, he wasn't finished until the final siren.
I think it shows the players won't be resting on their laurels, and will be keen to go for back to back.
Pendles and Sidey are reminders that it can be a long time between drinks and not to take it for granted.
