Our next award is The ROS ’Rising Ophidian Star Award’ for the rookie who was selected by the Leadership Group as a future star, someone who in their first season has shown they have the stuff to make a successful qooty career.

The Old Boys may have only had 1 rookie this season, but he was a good one. The lack of rook numbers was because we didn’t have the space for more and secondly our Head of House Ned_Flanders needed a break after nursing 7 rookies the season before. Regardless of the lack of rookie numbers our S35 rookie kenneyswarriors has been a great addition to the team and is the camel toe we have all grown to love and enjoy having around the campus. The camel posted a decent average of 21 post a week and regularly crashed his way into each week’s match thread kicking up sand and spitting on everyone. A solid individual and our only camel who has embraced what it means to be in a fantasy comp and not take it all to seriously. Well done on a great start to your qooty career Kenneyswarriors.

The next award is the Chancellor Cup awarded by the Spotswood Campus Chancellor, and is presented to the player who has provided extensive contributions both on and off the field throughout the season and upheld the Old Boys stringent values.
This cup is given only to those servants of the club who have elevated themselves above just a supporting role, someone who is instrumental in working behind the scenes to make this club the powerhouse it is, someone who has achieved Old Boy excellence and an example to the Spotswood Campus members. The winner of the Chancellor Cup is someone who was there early on when the Ophidian Old Boys was just an idea and enthusiastically contributed to all discussions and planning in the lead up to our bid. This team mate has supported me personally as the Old Boy’s Vice-Captain and OOB Committee Representative and recently filled in as a guest when a Bears squib failed to turn up for the Hot Seat. I am pleased to award the Chancellors Cup to not only a great club man and a premiership ruckman, but someone I am proud to call a friend, congratulations Elton Johns Wig who has constantly flown the OOB flag and demonstrated the Old Boy’s values at the highest level, a worthy winner of this award.

Up next is the DOB Medal recognizing the best Defensive Old Boy of the Season.
Midfielders and forwards rack up huge disposals and get plenty of recognition, but without a solid defensive the team will not succeed. The DOB medal is recognition of those unsung heroes who defend the opposition qoal attacks and is awarded to the defensive line player who applied the most pressure, killed off most of their opponent’s attacks, and was able to best nullify opposition threats. Our core defenders Hoos BRAB, The Jesus, Tigerturbulance, Fleabane and Over The Post had a great season as a defensive playing group and contributed significantly to the OOBs making it all the way to the Grand Final.
The DOB goes to Tigerturbulance who played every game at Center Half Back as a dashing intercepting defender, who honestly surprised selectors with how much ground he could cover for such a large unit. Turbos stats read more like a mid-fielder rather than a defender, coming 2nd in most team marks (82), highest defensive player with a DT of 835, most defensive half kicks 104 and 5th most handballs 125 for the entire team. As well as being the Old Boy’s best defender Turbo was also honored with the CHB position in the All-SFA side.
