Chad Warner
When the Sydney Swans swept up Chad Warner with pick 39 at the 2019 AFL Draft, they secured a youngster with an insatiable appetite for the contest. Warner attacks the ball and opponents with aggression and is relishing calling midfield bulls Josh Kennedy and Luke Parker his teammates at the Swans. Warner impressed for Western Australia in the 2019 AFL Under-18 Championships, averaging 18.2 touches (50 per cent contested), 3.2 clearances and 6.8 tackles per game. He also tallied an average of 27.1 disposals, 6.4 clearances and 7.4 tackles per match at Colts level for East Fremantle in 2019. He earned his AFL debut against Richmond in Round 6 of the 2020 season, recording eight disposals and two tackles.

Chad Warner
DOB: 19 May 2001
DEBUT: 2020
DRAFT: #39, 2019 National Draft
RECRUITED FROM: Willetton (WA)/Aquinas College (WA)/East Fremantle (WAFL)

Seriously and im not being a smartarse , how do you rate Dusty , imo better than Judd by foot

Judd was far more explosive in regards to acceleration than Martin (and is probably the most explosive player in regards to this aspect in the last 25 years since I have been watching football).

Martin, was overall stronger, especially through his core and hips. Far better balanced as well making him harder to tackle if you caught him.

Peak Judd was pretty ****en awesome and from game one he was almost a superstar . Felt like Carlton banged him up too much .

He was so scary in those grand finals imo.

Don't think Chad is as good all round yet, but his explosiveness is similar or even better.

I'd take Judd over Dusty personally. Dusty was good in big games but i reckon a lot of his career he also coasted by .

Ablett Jr better than all of them imo.

I don't think it's still to talk about Warner going toward these discussions though, ditto Gulden.

Heeney is a superstar now but probably didn't get there early enough to be in the awesome chat.

Just my opinion though of course

May i disagree with some of that ?

Agree on Ablett Jr being ahead of them, was the best player I have ever seen at his peak.

Judd got destroyed by OP at WCE, sadly it wasn't even Carlton running him into the ground (I am actually still impressed with how he reinvented himself as a player).

I don't think Dusty was ever quite as motivated as the others but had better natural talent (not saying he didn't work hard here). But hands down would be the best big game player I have ever seen, big final or grand final? Lock him in for a performance.

Funnily I have Goodes ahead of Dusty or Judd, more as he did it for a longer period over his career than the two of them and was more versatile. The Judd Vs Goodes matchups in 06 and 07 were awe inspiring.

As for Warner (bringing back to the thread) his not as explosive as Judd from the contest, but he has a better side step so can get out of trouble a little easier which makes up for it. It's a very different type of movement.

Probably the best explosive , goal kicking mid in the comp right now imo.

He does things that blokes just can’t do with his breakaway speed.

The step around serong on the weekend was just one of his attributes

He can on the run full speed change the direction of his kicks.

Kid is just a deadset gun

Every game so far this year he has almost brought us back and back
Ok you’ve won me over Punts.
Pay him the top dollar Swans.

Forget the amounts , is it fair if Chad is our highest paid next year?

Not really, but that's the pay-to-stay way for the stars these days. Our locals with red & white in their veins probably short-changed, with some selfless ones even dropping extra $$ for the team/cap too. From all accounts Heeney is our highest paid right now and rightly so. Let's hope the Chad continues on his current upward trajectory and earns this (alleged) raise. Sure beats my +3% this year :worried:

I am just going to tell my boss West Coast are interested

And what do you think his reaction will be?
Or will it be all over the media like Chad is?

I might have to sign with the Eagles…

I’ve told the mods here the the Devils are keen….crickets from them

The argument can be made for any of those greats as the best ie dusty, Judd etc (what ever floats your boat)

But when it comes to pure explosiveness , and instant break away speed Judd was the best ever, but right now I can make a case that Chad is even more explosive, coupled with his ridiculous evasiveness and ability to break tackles , I’d have Chad in front in that regards. He’s obviously not the player Judd was ( yet) but his raw power is something we havnt seen before . His penetration off one step is also incredible.

To put it short, the guy is freak and I couldn’t be happier for him to sign in for an extra couple of years

Martin not as consistent as Judd but more clutch when it counted and a way better finisher. Didn't need as many possessions to be effective.

If he wasn't the best player on the ground on Sunday, then he was the difference. If you're 23 and you qualify as the Difference, you deserve a payday. I've been very impressed, given all the inevitable media coverage, how well he's started 2025. I think a 2 year contract will be perfect (if it comes off...).

Correct , he mightve won a Smith , had a heap of handballs , but they didn't win that year , Dusty made flags happen
